I wish I did own this particular model, and I hope that someone on the forum has one to post. I saw an immaculate one for sale in NY but at a price that was just too painful to contemplate.

    That does look nice

Price - but even so some of this "vintage" stuff is far far cheaper than the modern Rolex models - especially if you are interested in wearing and collecting watches

    Can you remember the price?

I have one (at least I think it is) that arrived via eBay from Turkey completely beaten up (it was correctly described too, so I knew what I was getting into!). I've no idea what the owner did for a living but perhaps they stirred gravel by hand, or used their watch to scrape a tunnel out of a prison cell. Anyway, it appears they tried to prise off the back with a chisel.

Off it went to Rich Askham, and with the assistance of a donor movement and new crystal was sorted and is one of my favourite watches. Unfortunately I'm not sure Rich likes me anymore.

£2k-£2.5k. I’m all for vintage, I’m with you on that. I hardly have anything new, but it just felt a bit too much in this case.

There's one for sale in the US at the moment - circa US$1,800

I just missed out on a really nice one(blue dial with ghost bezel) that sold for a bargain price on the forum SC a year or so ago, still think about it. Wonder if it's still on the forums. Great watches.

I'm still looking for an original bracelet for mine

If by "ghost bezel" you mean "worn bezel" then I have one of those!!!

The lugs appear to be 20mm, but I read that they are 21mm?

Is it the one from SC, very faded bezel?

I agree - I keep going back to it - it's that type of watch you'd look to wear and get a reaction from people who see it

There are a lot of these "crazy" style watches of the 70's that are now available for hardly any money and it's now that you can appreciate what the designers and watch makers did.

collecting watches and enjoying them does not have to be an expensive hobby

Great restoration! Lemania 1340 or 5100?
(I have Alpina similar designed dial with central minute chronograph powered by Lemania 1340)

The two horizontal dial manual wind has a Valjoux 7734 Movement

I'm searching for the white faced model - one in good nick - most seem to be well used

Indeed and I pray to God they never become trend, I love the seventies designs and it's a huge bonus that is very much a buyers market as they're under appreciated. Enjoy it while it lasts.

I have one of these that arrived with me on a horribly mutilated bracelet, which I chucked out. I realise now that the only OEM parts of that bracelet were probably the end links, which I should have kept. If anyone has endlinks to suit this case please drop me a PM.

Not quite a Navigator but from a similar time

Powered by a Lemania 863 manual base which is the same as the 861 in speedmasters, not one I wear anymore. Should really move it on, but it’s pretty

Navigator Seastar here, v7734, a classic vintage chrono and seem to be very reasonably priced and a nice size at 41mm excluding the crown.
