Ok, crap title but otherwise I have found myself totally wrapped up in the build-up for the new Bond movie. Anyone else??
I'm intrigued by the plot leaks, if you don't like spoilers and rumours then close the thread now.
It seems that James Bond has retired and another agent (played by Lashana Lynch) has taken his "007" codename in MI6, but he's mithered back to active duty by CIA operative Felix Leiter. I'm not sure how that is going to work... two 007 agents? And is that the tease for Bond 26, I wonder... a female 007.
Remi Malik as the villain... Hmmm. He was decent as Freddie Mercury but he doesn't look like he could scare a wet fart out of a kitten. I'll reserve judgment for that casting until after the movie, he'll need some bad-ass henchmen I feel.
Apart from the set-up there's not a whole lot of information out there (not unusual for a Bond movie, they usually keep a tight lid on things) but still speculation that Blofeld will make another appearance.
Excellent news for car fans, they have revamped the old Aston Martin Vantage V8 for the movie and are also going to have the DB5 at some point.

Currently filming in Matera, Italy. The DB5 is in situ.
Last month filming in Aviemore, Scotland with a Ranger Rover Sport SVR and Toyota Land Cruiser car chase scene.
The DBV8 was used in scenes in London (Whitehall and Hammersmith Bridge) and Norway (Nittedal and Storseisundet Bridge).
I'm hoping David Batista will make an appearance.
A new Bond film? whatever sorry but IMO the Bond thing should have been retired if only out of respect for Ian Fleming
I FEEL LIKE I'M DIAGONALLY PARKED IN A PARALLEL UNIVERSE
You can't just kill off something as popular as James Bond after the death of the author. Books, maybe (the last I read was Devil May Care by Sebastian Faulks - a bit rubbish) but not the movie franchise. Cubby Broccoli took a large personal risk in producing the first Bond movie and worked closely with Ian Fleming to make sure he did it justice. The franchise rights are still owned by the Broccoli family and as far as I'm concerned they have done a superb job with it (Die Another Day might be the exception).
For me Dalton is one of the best bonds,
Massively underrated, love licence to kill too
I like all of the films with the exception of lazenby.. and die another day .. if I had to put a top three dodgy bond films I’d have to say quantum of solace is in third place for me lol

Bond movies have been getting worse with the current Daniel Craig movies, the rumours of a Bond film without having him being what Bond is all about is a bit silly, especially with the female 007 and so on, it's a trend in Hollywood just now, which can work with new stuff, but they do seem to forget what the fanbase for Bond is, as they did with Star Wars after that last debacle.
I do sort of see your point, but I have to strongly disagree that the Daniel Craig led films have been getting worse, I love them. Casino Royale certainly makes my top three and I think Spectre may be a top five contender as well. In fact there's only Skyfall which I wasn't keen on, I hated the "revisiting the past" rubbish, we don't need to know the full Bond backstory.
As far as the Bond film without him being an agent, that's been done before with him being suspended from duty or quitting outright before being led back in. He's still James Bond even if he's not "007".
I'll be sorry to see the back of Daniel Craig, I think he's the best we have had in a long time. That is of course down to the material he has to work with... the Pierce Brosnan movies are pretty laughable but that's not just because of Brosnan himself, it's the ridiculous scripts and storylines put together in an attempt to revisit the early glory-days. The gadgets and one-liners of the Connery days mixed with the tongue-in-cheek humour of the Roger Moore days. Both worked well in their respective era, but the franchise was due a serious shake-up which I think this generation has delivered.
Out of interest...has anyone been to the “Secret Cinema” screening of Casino Royale? I’m tempted to go but wasn’t sure as I probably don’t want to do the full role play thing.
I have it on good authority that the next Bond will be gender neutral.
I am not even sure what this means , but I assume he will not be know as Mr Bond anymore. Will this only apply to Bond or every other character in the film? Including Miss Moneypenny?
Hopefully it will not extended to other franchises - Superman, Ironman, Batman, Wonderwoman, Aquaman, Spider-Man, to name a few. Superperson or just "Super" sounds so naff.
Honestly do the vast majority of the punters actually want all this PC bullsh*t and virtual signalling in something which is entirely fictional and supposed to be entertaining.
Whoever does not know how to hit the nail on the head should be asked not to hit it at all.

Very much looking forward to this. End of an era.
Really liked Casino Royal and thought the Daniel Craig era would be amazing, just loved the b/w intro, sadly I think all the subsequent film have disappointed.
Certainly the the 4th best Bond after:
1. Connery
2. Dalton
3. Lazenby (shocking I know but just love OHMSS).
Have to agree with you....actually, I would swap 1 and 2 round as I think Dalton was the nearest Bond to the character Fleming created with his books, which I've read.
I like Daniel Craig as Bond though and Casino Royale was IMO certainly one of the best Bond films ever made (and pretty close to the novel).
I like the original stuff, especially the remastered Blu Rays but once it all started going CGI, they lost me.
Very interesting that there's a female 007, but that won't be the basis of the next Bond film. Maybe a spin-off, but disregarding issues around gender (and race, if you want to go there), unless the central character is actually called James Bond and there's some sort of notional continuity in the identity, it won't be a Bond movie. And there will be another Bond movie I believe, because the market for them is still pretty big.
I liked Craig in the role overall. Not one of my favourites. A bit brutal and thuggish. Lacked the charm. But I think you have to be born with it; you can't learn it.
I assume so anyway because I don't remember learning it.
I'm not too cosmopolitan, but the only gender-neutral performer I've heard of recently is Asia Kate Dillon, of Billions and John Wick - Parabellum.
I agree and hope . He really did evoke a sense of imminent danger and presence. He had a strong sense of odd-job about him without being a straight copy. Silent but deadly.
When he was dragged out the train it was one of those , is he alive or dead? Kind of like a Jaws type thing where he would end up looking as if he died but then magically reappeared.

I hope the next movie is a sucess, but can't help thinking the Bond franchise itself is a bit knackerd.
Still...mustn't complain....it's heaps better than the x-men, avengers, superhero CGI tosh.
This is so interesting, funny how opinion can differ so much! I thought Spectre was really awful, terrible film by any standards. I've only watched it once so maybe need to give it another try!
Casino Royale is definitely an all-time great though, have to agree with that. Daniel Craig has brought something very modern to the franchise, and a raw physicality that hasn't really been seen in such a way before. That said, I think he's run his race now and although I'm looking forward to the sign-off I'm not sorry to see them freshen it up. Will be interesting to see who they cast, despite all the talk I don't think they will go for a non-male. I'm personally hoping for Cillian Murphy, who has much more classic Bond looks, but can bring some darkness to the role even more so than Craig.

A scene lifted pretty much straight from the book, due to Peirce Brosnan I hadn't seen a Bond film at the cinema in years but we thought we'd give Craig a chance so went to see Casino Royale not long after it came out,
Scene 1 the chase,, brilliant
Fight scene on stairway,, amazing
Chase at airport,, gripping
and more and more, will watch it all again tonight.

I'll see it at some point I'm sure but they lost something when they went 'realistic', I think 'charm' is the closest I can get to it. Craig is utterly charmless as bond. Something all the others except maybe Dalton had in their own way.
I'm not opposed to a female lead but 'Bond, James Bond' is something that I'll miss - a bit like a 90's Arnie film where he doesn't say 'I'll be back', I'd much prefer a good 'Modesty Blaise' film than having a female 007 permanently.
"No Time To Die." It sounds like a straight to video Steven Seagal film.
The reason that there hasn't been much info coming out is because: 1- The film industry's increasing levels of security around big films being made. You can't set foot on most of the production areas in Pinewood without two or three security checks and 2 - The production Company have been rewriting the script continuously as the film is being made which is unusual for a Bond film.
They have spent an awful lot of money on this one if purchasing is anything to go by
