Charming little Tissot Visodate boot sale find.

Couldn't pass up on this old Tissot Visodate recently at the boot sale, I only noticed after I bought it it was a automatic, I just assumed it was a manual and wound it by the crown and it ran so worth a punt, I think its a rolled gold case as theres no wear you might get with a plated case, I can't find the lip on the caseback to pop it open though. a quick Pollywatch and its running very well, accurate and long power reserve.
    Not bad for a quid!
Probably a Calibre 784 from some superficial Googling.

    Cheers..

Always a lucky bugger, good find. Looks like the case is opened via the gap around the main case not the traditional back.

    36mm?

That's a lovely find! Really nice, I must get to some car boot sales for a bit of a rummage.

For reference, the word 'Automatic' on the dial is usually a good indicator of the movement type. HTH

Are you sure it’s not gold? Will be easy to see if it’s hallmarked internally

You know what, Im not sure, I think it might be to be honest, but I still can't get the back off, I didn't want to presume it was, the caseback has a shallow dent in it which as we know can happen easily on gold watches, non of the small scratches have any sign they might be down to the base metal if it is rolled plate so I had a small feeling it might be gold. Ill have to have another go at it.
    Cheers..

I reckon it’s 9ct for sure. Got to be worth somewhere between £100 and £150 at current scrap prices, depending on case weight, I would think.

I did the unthinkable a few weeks back and scrapped some 9ct watches that I have picked up over the years. All perfectly presentable, but just out of fashion. They weighed in at just over a grand.

Your not trying to be the back off but get the bezel and glass off.

    Nice find Jason!
Have a look at the side at 9 o'clock position for a little nick to prise off the bezel and crystal in one.
If not, it's a through the crystal job.
