    DJ Bimetal

All. Quick bit advise please. Currently wearing a Steel Daytona. Just been into my local AD to order a DJ for my sons 21st. And they have a 41mm Bimetal DJ with Black face and Oyster bracelet. I’m quite tempted for myself. Would that hold its value. Or head north or south as an investment ??

    Advise received with thanks !!

If you like it buy it.

If you want an investment the Prudential are a safe bet.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

I'm a big fan of buying watches you like because, ahem, you like them.

If you buy for investment I'm not sure if you can fully enjoy them. No offence intended as this is obviously a personal opinion. You may find it liberating though.

Wondering why people with no interest in watches are on a watch forum?

If you like it, buy it, it'll always be worth more than if you'd bought a Tag.

I doubt you'd lose a lot, but are you asking because you want to make some money, or will it help you justify buying the watch? I know that every time I buy a watch, I always tell myself that if I need cash, I could sell one, and that I'd never lose much, if anything.

Buy any Rolex you can get - they can only go up in value. If you still have money left, buy Bitcoin.

Dick. Great post tbh. No making money certainly isn’t the motivation. But saying that I don’t want to lose money either. I think your comment about justification is actually bang on the button, maybe trying to justify the purchase

If you are buying bi metal you are loosing money, that has always been the market. You might break even after about twenty RRP increases! Maybe a slight exaggeration on the twenty.

Got my name on 'a list' for the blue dial fluted bezel, rrrp £7250, used one on watchfinder for £9450, so don't think you'll lose money.

You can't compare a blue dialled SS 41mm DJ with a SS and yellow gold DJ. The blue dial is currently the most sough after DJ, the waiting times boost second hand values, the TT is available everywhere, so you'll always lose something, but not as much as other brands.

That watch is £9500. You would get £7.5k on SC for it. If you are buying the DJ for your son try and get on the list for the TT GMT as that will for sure hold value and they are more inclined to stick you in the list given the spend on your son's DJ simultaneously.

The one they list at £9.5k has the diamond blue dial by the looks of it, which is closer to £9k RRP. They do not have any blue dial fluted non-diamond (I have been keeping an eye for one of these!).
