This is a good thread and I’m curious to see people’s experiences of how durable PVD and DLC are.
My Panerai B-series PAM4 is 20 years old now, and is holding up well.
Thanks - I am a real fan of this watch - was a definite case of right place at the right time when I managed to get it (had never even been on my radar!). Getting a strap that is basically the same look and feel of the deployment one too was good (I couldn't get on with the deployment clasp). Only cost me £35 as well.
My daily watch.. I love it..

Just the one for me but the OP’s PVD Squale 1521 has a great look to it.

Golgo13. More unusual polished black finish, I love it.
My one and only, and still unmarked after several years. Damasko make them tough.
I actually prefer the stainless on a bracelet.
I wonder if brigant would let me try his on approval.
Spotted this custom DLC FOIS for sale at Oakleigh Watches in Norwich...

My experience is that they pretty durable to be honest.
Some watch designs are more susceptible to being knocked & if you bash your watch hard or catch it on something sharp/rough, any damage will potentially be more obvious than on a SS watch.
I also find they tend to wear smaller than their stainless steel brothers.
Cerakoted, so not PVD

What’s the difference between cerakote and PVD?
I have some
These are all coated metal (PVD or DLC)
These are ceramic

Surprised I haven't seen another Seafire in this post....
Not sure if the Tuna counts?
Cheers,
Adam.

Adam, how are you finding the Seafire? I’m very tempted by it’s unusual movement, but concerned about the PVD being a scratch magnet.
To me all black watches look the same. The Loony here on holiday earlier this year. PVD is pretty tough but I wouldn't buy anything too pricey with it.
Thank you - yes I feel the same re: the ceramic case, its lovely. I did initially like the gold accent version but this was too hard to miss (52% off RRP!). The fact I managed to get a virtually exact same looking strap and a black PVD buckle makes it even better for me. It's my most worn watch.
I actually went the opposite way to many - sold my SubC date in June and bought this, a BB GMT and am due to pick up a BB58 this week - all 3 for a decent bit less than I sold my Rolex for to Watchmaster. I've always worn my PAM312 most of the time but its not been touched since I got the 2 Tudors and look forward to getting the 58
