    Just a Quid£... for Eddie

I became aware that a couple of members liked the idea of having a whipround on the forum to send Eddie a pressie to cheer him up during his recuperation but were thwarted as to how to keep it secret and the notion that he gets embarrassed if people make a fuss.

Apparently said members were discoursing in back passages (or was it channels?) In to the early hours of morning - sufficiently long enough for one of them to sober up enough to have a Eureka moment and make an executive decision - instead of starting a whipround on the forum (and spoiling the surprise) a nice bunch of flowers were sent to the long-suffering MrsEddie on behalf of ALL the members of the forum.

The Eureka moment involved sending a pressie to MrsEddie (MrEddie can't then complain) and then asking members to contribute a quid, or two, to MrEddie's fundraiser in lieu of the whipround

Hopefully MrsEddie gets a nice surprise, MrEddie gets a boost to his fundraiser and the recipients of the fundraiser receive life-changing support = WIN -WIN -WIN

    Everyone's a Winner!

So boys and girls, are you on board?

It really is just a quid£ or two and if enough members chip in then MrEddie's fundraiser gets a sizeable boost

Virgin Moneygiving - click on the red box peeps

Forgot to mention - we have many guests who regularly visit, go to 'full site' option to see the Virgin Moneygiving box - £1 donation from guests would easily increase the total by £500.

I hear Eddie is looking for a new fleshlight (sp?), so may be we should have a quick whip (or is it wipe) around and get him one?

A donation from me in recognition of fellow member Suds sending Mrs Platts flowers, a true example of the spirit of this forum.

C'mon guys, we can all spare a few £'s for the forum charity in recognition of the enjoyment we get from TZ-UK.

Did I read somewhere that if there’s a pound sign in your thread title, half the members can’t see it?

This is all very nice but why not give Eddie something too. I know he’ll say he doesnt want it but a few years back I did a collection and got him a load of whisky and I’m sure he enjoyed it.
If anyone would like to take part PM me and I’ll sort something out.

That was indeed well received but I'm not drinking during recovery so no booze please.

(just to clarify before all the hoo ha breaks out, I'm asking for myself, I like to relax while I think of something other than booze, I’m in London)

The reason I've said no booze is because prior to the operation, the hospital notes suggested losing a bit of weight. I was around 10kg overweight and had 6 weeks to lose some. An instant reduction in calories could be achieved by eliminating booze completely and this alone resulted in a loss of 3.4KG. I lost another 3 KG during the week of the operation and to be honest, I sleep better without booze and rather like the feeling.

In all seriousness, keep at it Eddie. I’m off the sauce and I feel great. Going out is not exactly the same but hey, it’s a small price to pay. What I’m missing (a bit) is wine-food pairing, ie a nice glass of claret with steak or glass of rose with chèvre chaud, other than that it’s all good. I just discovered an alcohol free IPA* which went very well with curry (I'll look the name up later on), so hang on there, the benefits deffo outweigh (esp long term) the momentary pleasures.

    * rit, it was this one Big Drop Pale Ale, lovely drop.

Same happened to me Eddie, although without the operation bit.

Doc diagnosed borderline fatty liver and I packed it in there and then, about six years ago now.

I still miss it but abstinence does improve your life.

    All the best mate.
    Cheers,
    Neil.
