I’m thinking about getting a Grand Seiko, was hoping for some thoughts or advice. Where’s the best place to get one? The Seiko boutique, or Jura Watches? Is there usually any movement on price when buying one new?

If possible I'd find your nearest stockist, pop in and see what they can do. My nearest would certainly be open for a discount.
Try Dom at Hackett Watches, he sourced a diver for me at a good price with full Uk warranty.

Depends what model you want, there are a few popping up on SC on the odd occasion.
Other than that you can try yahoo auctions as suggested.
There's also the Rakuten market place as well.
If you want new, take a look at a Seiko boutique, though from what I understand the chances of discount may not be that high

Thanks all, I’m after a Snowfkake, and was thinking about getting it new.
I hadn’t considered Dom, I’ll give him a call.
Buy used from SC. Most popular models pop up from time to time, at around 40% off. Just needs a little patience.
I agree SC is the place. I have brought and sold a snowflake on SC. Maybe place a WTB also.

The Seiko boutique is an awesome place, very friendly and you can take your time checking out the whole range. You can usually manage a 10% discount there.
It’d be a good experience even if you know what you already want. The Snowflake can be a bit tricky to size so best not to rush it.

Timeless Luxury Watches. Let me know if you want an intro to Anna, the co-owner

As some have said above, buy pre owned in SC or from a WTB. These depreciate a bit, so let someone else take the hit. i've had two, both via here and would have lost a fair amount otherwise.
The boutique will go to 10% discount and they also throw in the first service for free.

My local shop will usually do 20% off rrp for forum members. They stock GS.
In the past I've found C24 to be quite good, particularly private sellers (you can haggle a bit) and within EU (no tax concern). Recent GBP has made that less good, but that's going to be the case with importers too. Indeed also perhaps soon with shops, as the manufacturing cost is in JPY, so at some point that will have an effect.
Thank you everyone for your advice.
Ryanb741, thank you for the kind offer, I’ve looked on the Timeless Luxury Watches site and their prices look good, I assume I’d have to add 20% VAT onto anything I buy from them?
Dave O’Sullivan, thank you. If I could buy one brand new with 20% off RRP I’d be very happy! Whereabouts in the country is your local shop?
RAFF, that’s good to know, thanks.
And I appreciate all advice, I’m terribly impatient and once I’ve decided I want something I want it ASAP. I have previously bought a GS SD diver from Sales Corner but it popped up just as I was beginning to consider one and I jumped on it. Now I know I want a Snowflake I’ll go crazy waiting for a good second hand one. Though I might place a WTB and see what happens.
What were you thinking about getting?

It's in north west London. PM me if that works and I'll put you in touch.
Thanks to Dave and his recommendation I picked up a Snowflake, great service from Dave’s local dealer and I paid a price I’m happy with.
Just need to work out how to upload a picture.
Congratulations, that’s beautiful.
Grand Seikos are pretty beguiling things, with lots of interesting finishes to attract the eye.
Sorry-wrong thread!
