Just use Google calendar. I have a shared email address with my wife and we use the same Gmail for the calendar. Works perfectly.
If you're that fussed about a Gmail address just don't share the calendar address.
Hi Chaps, my partner and I have managed with a shared paper calendar on the kitchen wall for many years, but now she wants us to use technology. I have a shared Outlook Calendar on my work phone. We have looked at the Google Calendar which looks great, but she does not want to create a gmail address. Time tree seems overly complicated. Does anybody used a family type calendar that is simple/easy to use? Cheers Paul

If you both have Apple IDs:-

Why not use the iPhone calendar? Works ok for us.
Am I reading right you have an Android phone and wife has an iPhone?
We use Teamup Calendar.
Accessible on PC and apps available for iPhone and Android.
Simple and colourful interface I find.
You could do that, yes, but would be a world easier on Gmail. As you both have iPhones you could also do it via iCloud but personally I still prefer Gmail.
I have my own email. My wife has her own email. We have a shared email address and we use that email as our joint calendar which is on both of our phones.
We use an app called FamCal.. it’s very useful for sharing calendars, shopping lists etc
Another vote for sharing your google calendars. Having tried both gmail and apple, google is better.
