    Dilemma

I have a dilemma I already have explorer 1 , so do I buy a explorer 11 which is a brilliant looking watch in my opinion or a sub and as I won’t be flipping future values don’t interest me just can’t make my mind up.

Each to their own. I had the current white dial exp2 but sold due to the bezel being too delicate and the lack of a trip lock crown which made it feel flimsy when setting the time. I would get the sub personally but the older Exp2 is also a very nice watch.

To quote the bleeding obvious, it all depends on you. The Explorer1 is way below the radar and is very discreet. If you wear an Explorer11, no one will notice it, especially if you buy an older model.

If you buy a Sub, it will be noticed which may please you or irritate you. My Explorers get the bulk of my wrist time because of their discretion.

I’ve had both and I just prefer the sub, contrary to the posts above no-one has ever noticed it on my wrist.

You just don't know that they have noticed it.

There has been a recent spate of muggings in the area where I have a place in Spain and everyone of them was a done for a DJ, DD or a Sub. I was once strolling on a deserted beach and some guy called me over from what must have been 25 yards away, just to say how much he admired the Sub. The beach was totally deserted and I was a shade worried for a few minutes.

Thanks for the input guys, as been said I to have some reservations on the explorer 11 although it’s a great looking watch so it’s looking like it’s going to be the sub and I understand about it being noticed from a mile away just got to make sure it’s properly insured and not to wear it on night out with boys .

Don't be daft everyone notices it. My grandmother knows what a sub looks like and so does my 8 year old son and I don't even have one.

Might not be the popular opinion, but I think the polar explorer looks better than the Sub.

Sub of course. I prefer it hands down. Now I am saying this, but even if I love my SubC ND, I often think about getting a polar Explorer II with orange hand.

ExpII is the only model from the 6-digits that I'd even consider.

I just bought this one last Tuesday though.

Although I love the 16570 Explorer II, I wouldn’t have it over a Sub

The 42mm 216570 is too my mind too large, with an oddly stretched looking bezel and an undersized crown. I do like the matte dial of the black version, but neither works as a package for me.

I like the 16570 more than a sub..

Nowadays the submariner style watch are too ubiquitous, with all the homages, derivatives and other you name it..while 16570’s style is different than your average watch yet not screaming “look at me!!! Mug me!!!!”

While 216570...that’s what happens when Rolex trying to do a Panerai...it fits bigger than the 44mm panerai as the lugs are fat, domed caseback and the hands seem too fat

The explorer looks gigantic compared to the Submariner wow

I thought a dilemma was a choice between electric or food that sounds like a gift

If they made the newer Explorer 2 in similar proportions to the Sub, I'd have bought one already

42mm is just too big for most people (a lot of whom don't know btw). And the fact it has a white dial makes it look even bigger in person

39-40 would've been ideal. Do love the chunky orange GMT hand vs the older red stick hand though...

Firstly, it can’t be comfortable wearing two like that, but are you not afraid you might from the explorer, having to hold on to it all Day? Wouldn’t it be easier just to wear one?

    Dilemma

It’s such a personal choice. The sub bores me to death and the explorer is more unique. So personally I’d go for the latter. Now, if the sub were a nice vintage one, though, I may answer differently

Difficult choice. Think I would go for the black face II. Only bad thing about it is the small crown, but believe that it is small due to its caving origins... or is that incorrect?

I don't know but that sounds like complete Rowlocks.

I have an explorer II , I know it’s 42mm but it really doesn’t feel it wear as big . It’s the watch I wear most often.

I'd have the Submariner despite them being everywhere. There isn't enough contrast on the face/bezel of an Explorer and it looks too 'bright' IMO.
