With this in mind.... quickest way to obtain one of these might be to become a movie star and get loaned one for the part.
They are looking for a new bond right?!?
How do I put my name on the list?

I’ve just read that piece and it’s NOT the “Bond” watch at all, merely a similar one......
Seeing Bond wearing a Sub in Thunderball made me want a Sub before I even hit my teenage years - but even if I had the money to buy the one being auctioned, the degradation in hands and dial is a complete turn-off for me. I'm not a fan of patina although I'm quite relaxed about dings and scuffs from normal wear on a tool watch.
I’ll put my tin hat one for this…. I think it looks a mess. Sorry.

Bond may not have sold.... but someone was clearly desperate for a vanilla Daytona
116500LN stainless steel chronograph wristwatch that also sold for $27,500.
I always have to bite my lip when it's stated Broccoli gave Connery his watch to wear. I've tried on one of the actual watch Connery wore and it was owned by a crew member. It had a replacement dial because it was serviced by Rolex but the crew member had location photos to back it up. He said it'll never be sold and will go to his grandchildren.
