    Bezel Insert Removal

Is there a recommended way to remove an aluminium bezel insert without destroying it?
I have a spair Seiko SKX009 bezel and decided to remove the original insert so I could fit another type. I put the bezel in boiled water and left it for ten minutes. I was hoping that the heat would loosen the glue but it was still stuck firmly. I then tried to pry it off with a sharp plastic edge but unfortunately I bent the insert in the process. I don't mind too much but it would have been nice to keep for a spare.

I use a really thin guitar pick and slide it between the bezel and insert from underneath.

That's a good idea. Thank you.
