Upgrading the crystal on a Citizen Lefty

Having bought a Citizen NY0040 I realised that the crystal needed refreshing.

Rather than go with the standard mineral I decided to upgrade it to a domed sapphire from Crystaltimes.

I think the result was worthwhile:









And yes, I should have done a deep clean on the bezel first!

If a sapphire replacement is available to replace a mineral glass I’d do it every time, it’s a no-brainer. Unfortunately they aren’t always available but I always try. Generic sapphire glasses aren’t too expensive, a good digital caliper is needed to measure the old crystal then it’s a case of seeing what’s listed.
