    Campsites down south

Any campers here have any recommendations for nice sites or areas? We have T4 and would like to see some nice sceneries, beaches etc over a couple of weeks. We have hardly ever been down south apart from Weymouth, Poole and Newquay. I'm sure there are some lovely areas to be seen, it's just finding them out. Had a bit of a search and areas around Blackpool sands Looks worth a visit.

Drop a pin anywhere in Cornwall apart from Redruth or Bugle...they're, umm, not pleasant.

Theres a fantastic campsite in Hayle called Gwithian Farm which is a fair way down but fairly central to all the nicer areas.

    Try Seadown in Charmouth.
Right by the beach. It's a quiet site though, no club house etc..

I've always liked Durdle Door campsite, and it could be worth having a look at Sandy Balls in the New Forest and doing a little exploring there.

Might give Durdle door a go. Was thinking of starting in Brixham, then onto torquay, round to weymouth and finish off at Durdle. Sandy balls sounds a bit rough

Would love to go and check the beaches out at porthcurno which look stunning. Its another 3 hour jaunt from brixham though.

Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

There is a quite new one in Berwick St James, just off the A303 and quite close to Stonehenge. Seem popular for those interested in the Salisbury area.

Not sure I want to mention this site as it is a hidden gem, but as long as you keep it to yourself :-

Why didn't I suggest this! Not that I know about camping there.

I used to live near the Gower and used to go there often with my then-girlfriend. I'd enjoy driving along the Swansea coast road, reaching the Mumbles, and then going up the hill onto the Gower. It is utterly, utterly beautiful.

No not been there although I did see it pop up on a top 20 beaches search. Quick Google shows some beautiful pictures.

Setthorns in the New Forest is lovely, and we take our caravan there often. There is EHU but no showers or toilet blocks , so you'd need to rely on your own wash facilities if you have them...

I stayed at Sandy Balls many times in my yoof... it's only 20 miles from Bournemouth/Poole and right on the edge of the New Forest - plenty to do !

I've stayed at the Sea Barn Farm campsite, near Weymouth, a few times and found it pretty comfortable.

The pitches seem a good size, it's pretty quiet and the shower/toilet blocks are clean, well equipped and spacious.

The washing up facilities seem pretty decent too, but I've never used them, personally.

What's really great is that it looks down over Chesil Beach, on a good evening the view is stunning.

I'm not really a regular camper and usually only stay a night or two, but I'll go back there sometime, I'm sure.

Don't miss a lovely walk, entrance starting near the church in Salcombe Regis, ( used to have tea's on sundays ) through fields and then a flight of steps down to a great quiet beach!
