Mixing my metaphors shamelessly, this was like mud-wrestling with a pig, the pig's enjoying it and the pig won't stop till it's had enough. At the end of the session I was determined to hold the centre of the ring, or be that pig, and I just about managed it.

I was playing with the lot of them, whilst providing a chance to tell me what their beef was really based on.

Mischievous or malevolent?....not sure but it was fun. It's was also a parody on how people can portray totally different personas so easily on an internet forum but I suspect that point's a bit too subtle for many. Furthermore, I don`t think it justifies claims of 'social problems', just a wry sense of both humour and justice.

Some have turned up late to the party today, but that's party's now over.

I wish you could hear yourself....

The point I made, and I`ll make it again, is that my decision not to pursue a sale was influenced heavily by the fact that I`ve lost respect for the seller on the basis of how he conducts himself on certain parts of this forum. That comment can be taken in general context, I named no-one publicly, but there's a list of people I won't have further dealings with for this reason. I`ve no doubt there are some who won`t deal with me either, but having been on the receiving end of the spineless barbs and jibes from the Bear Pit Posse I don`t think my stance is unreasonable. Indeed, those who choose not to deal with me are applying the same logic........I must've upset a few of them at some point in the past!

I believe this topic is worthy of general discussion, it's a question of forum behaviour and ethics, I posted it out of frustration as much as anything. Suggest a few of you try playing the ball and not the man, think about the points, decide whether they're valid, then comment accordingly. I`ve now made an alternative buying decision so the watch in question is no longer on my radar, but the point still remains valid.
If you dont want to deal with the chap , dont . Noone else is going to loose any sleep over it . Im sure the seller will happily sell his watch in the comfortable knowledge he didn`t deal with you or unknowingly missed the chance.
Maybe you`d prefer a Physco evaluation to be performed under your terms of course to allow people who have strong moral ethics to be the only ones to list their items for sale. I dont know . I can only wonder your frustration at not buying the watch you want but your elevated morals prevented you from doing so . What a dilema, I feel for you .

Listen to the voice of reason. He's correct in what he is saying. I should know from my experience in the BP. Not all , but some.

That is a very sound summary. You are a very nice bloke and I had very happy dealings with you when you serviced my TAG Aquaracer.

Everytime I take a peek in the BP the same regulars are their morning, noon and night. A green dot light illustrating they are on the forum.

I pity them a bit to be honest as the BP (and this forum in general) seems to be their whole life. It must be, because they are never bloody off this forum.

Socialising, going out for a pint, having a chat with the missus, watching a bit of telly, playing footy with the children etc. all seem to be secondary to being a continuous (and I mean 24/7) keyboard warrior on TZ.

Maybe not a great idea to start this thread, but you are a better man. I would just bow out gracefully given their appetite for destruction.

I feel it only fair to point out they've successfully hunted out your attempts to profit at the expense of other members which is why you're displaying a vested interest in this teacup storm.
Personally i felt that the kicking you received over the fundraiser largely pants so kept away from it, but when you're portraying a skewed story thats not particularly cricket either.

That might be how it felt to you, it seemed to me like a fella shouting and waving at clouds.

I have no beef, I rarely even notice users names and get confused by the use of real names, this just seemed odd.

It's the internet, you'll never convince people they're wrong and trying to will see you going mad. Let it go.

Your point has been taken on board and yes, I am alittle hacked off by it all, but I will get over it.

Remember that every time you’ve been ‘discussed’ in the BP has been because you lied as to the origin of the item you were selling, the time you have had it, or the price you claimed you’d had it, or because you considered that the forum owner’s rules did not apply to you.

I didn’t join the kicking either but please remember that you were the villain here, trying to profit precisely from those who didn’t have access to the BP. I’ve had enough of this role reversal.

That's one way of looking at it... Another would be that you were handed your backside on a platter....
To use your boxing booth analogy, often the last man to know he's been knocked out is the man who got knocked out.
As has been said - you're too nice to even class yourself (to further the analogy) as a contender...

I know our host is ill and all, but perhaps, just perhaps, it might be polite to him and the majority of the forum, who don't want to play in the mud, to take what is without doubt basically a bear pit thread to the bearpit? Everyone can carry on as they are here, but in the right place for a thread like this thread.

And let this thread sink as it should.
