Please help me - the DGR

In September I shall be participating in this year's Distinguished Gentleman's Ride - a worldwide effort to raise awareness of prostate cancer and men's mental health. Many on here will understand that this is a cause that's close to my heart for very personal reasons, and I'd be more grateful that I could possibly articulate for any support by way of donations from fellow TZers.

My fundraising page can be found here.

These causes have been neglected in the past, but through the DGR they are at last beginning to get the exposure they need in order that support can be made available. Thank you so much for any help in this respect.

I’ll see you on the London ride, I’m one of the Marshall's, as I have been for the last three years.

Like to participate, but unfortunately the Harley doesn't fit in! Will probably donate anyway.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

Loads of Harley’s and I’ll be taking mine.

Given my personal donation to Enoch this year but hopefully see you there Tony.

Good for you Tony. There couldn’t be a better reason to ride, for friends who are with us and friends we miss.

Hope you get some decent pictures to share with us afterwards :).

All the best with this Tony as it a wonderful event, my only advise is change your ride now to any except the London one as its not fun at all just constant stop start and pisses the capital off whereas the slightly out of towns really appreciate the support, are more fluid, and will be alot more fun.

    I'm of the opposite opinion.

Riding past all the landmarks in the capital, which are packed with tourists, all asking what's going and why is everyone dressed up so smart.
We had cards to hand out last year explaining the cause and with a contact address where they could donate if they'd enjoyed the spectacle... after all, that's the whole point of the ride, to raise awareness.

And what's the point of dressing up to the nines and blatting through the countryside where no bugger can see you.

I'm going to bump this thread. I'm hugely grateful for every donation made to date, but these are such worthy causes, and they've touched me very directly; every single £1 donated will make a difference, so please visit my fundraising page and give what you can.

    Much appreciated.

Guys, this is a fantastic cause and one that's very close to my heart. PLEASE follow the link, and PLEASE make a donation - for any amount you like - so that The Movember Foundation receives support through this amazing global initiative.

    Thank you!

I need £119 to hit the target of £1k, and any support that would push me closer would be gratefully received.

Please, please, please pop over to my fundraiser page and donate what you can. These causes are so important.

Whilst being hugely grateful for all the donations to date I’m going to shamelessly bump this again, as the fundraising is for some really important causes affecting men’s health and wellbeing. The work being done here will literally save lives.

Come on gents (and ladies with a gent in their lives). Tony’s given us all a good excuse to raise some money for some very good causes.

Plus he’s going to put some good photos up afterwards - right Tony? :)

    World Suicide Prevention Day

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. Every year in the UK alone, many thousands of lives are lost, and families shattered, as a consequence of male suicide. For the most part it affects men over 40, but of late it's become a real issue for teens and upwards as well.

My son was in his late twenties when he took his life.

I don't want sympathy, I'd just be grateful for donations to the fundraiser for which I'm raising money. You can do that here.

Thanks to more amazing generosity from members here I'm now approaching my revised target of £2k - double my original target. The last two weeks are going to be the hardest, so if you haven't yet donated and feel that you can then please go here to do so.

Well, thanks to some amazing generosity here and elsewhere I’ve just broken through the £2,000 milestone.

I'm not giving up, though, and have reset my target to £2,500 with less than two weeks to go.
