    Family Travel Insurance Recommendations Please

    Hi,

I'm looking to buy an annual travel insurance policy to cover myslef, my partner and our two kids. I do already have free travel cover through my bank account and I have asked how much
it would be to add the others on to it. From what I can see, it's more expensive to add the other three on, than buy a whole new group policy. Also, the bank policy seems to be very basic (as it's 'free', I'm not suprised)

Can I please ask if anyone has a recommendation for a good company/deal that might be good? It would just be for European cover this year

    Many Thanks
    John

I have cover from virgin at the moment, and while in the US some stuff got missed in the back of a taxi late at night. I filled out the form, supplied proof of ownership and a few weeks later a suitable amount of money arrived in my account. Only "issue" was they did not bother to send an email breaking down amounts paid out per item. Not sure if any do that though.

Can't comment on how they handle medical claims etc. Purely loss of belongings.

As always, I think Moneysavingexpert is the go to place rather than rely on the limited experience of members of specialist topic forums:

His weekly newsletter is well worth signing up to.

My wife has a Barclays Premier Charge Card which also includes travel insurance. It covers the entire family, up to age 65, provided the holiday is purchased through this facility. Cover is very comprehensive so it is a no brainer as far as we are concerned.

Because of my age, over 65, I am no longer covered under this so have a Barclays Travel Pack at £12.50 pm which covers me worldwide even though I now have a few declared medical issues. Works for us.
