Skype on Kindle, is it possible?

I'm taking my Kindle into hospital and it would be handy to have Skype but it's not in the app store for Kindle. Anybody know if it can be done or whether there is a web-based version accessable via a browser?

Haven’t got one but isn’t this what you want?

It would seem so but when I went into the app store yesterday and searched for Skype, nothing was found :-( Just discovered that it's not compatible with my device.

Would Whatsapp video calling work on a Kindle instead of Skype?

Skype used to run on older Kindle's but no longer.

Skype is available on the latest Kindle tablets.

No idea but at least 2 of the people I want to call only have Skype (Luddites).

Good old-fashioned phone call not to your/their liking?

Just tried my old 1st gen iPad mini, but isn’t advanced enough for iOS 10, otherwise I’d have posted it off for you.

Could try the web interface, if that works, you’re more than welcome to it.

The web-based Skype doesn't work on Kindle, it says it's an unsupported device, only Windows and IOS is supported. This makes me think it needs to install something and isn't truly web-based.

I have an old Windows phone I can use but it's a bit clunky. Thanks for all the help.
