Rolex SD43 Remove Dive Extension or Not

After being very lucky and picking one of these up i am about to have the bracelet sized in the next few days.

It would appear after reading a few reviews most people remove the dive extension/fliplock.

I take it the glidelock works normally even after it's removal.

I never intend to dive with it so it would be from a pure cosmetic/comfort point of view.

Any help as usual would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Mark

You will still be able to use glide lock as normal. Nearly everyone removes the diver's ext to improve the comfort.

    Very nice watch. Enjoy.

First thing that I did when I received mine, glidelock functions as normal since when it's folded up its normal link (albeit slightly longer)

Easily reversible so if you don't get on, couple of screws and it's back on.

Try it both ways and see what works best.
I took it off but tbh for me it made no difference.

I took it off and it made a big difference for me!

I do have a smallish wrist though, and, FWIW, I have as few links on the 6 o'clock side as the bracelet permits.

    Indeed.

I left mine on, no issues with comfort here.

Well that was an interesting visit to my local Rolex AD.
Yes we can adjust your bracelet free of charge.
No we can't remove the divers extension as that is classed as a modification.
I had previously been aware that someone else had the same problem but thought it was an urban myth.
Anyway nice chat with the Rolex accredited watchmaker and bracelet now sized and feels fine
With the glidelock don't think I will have any issues.
I did receive a free Rolex magazine issue No 8 which does include details about my new watch so not all bad.
As for anyone suggesting a DIY job my wife won't let me near a light switch never mind an expensive watch.

I really want an SD43 but think my wrists are too small at 6.75”, however I like large watches.

Love to find one in an AD just to try on & decide if it’s even worth putting myself on a list.

Any Berkshire members with one I can look at on my wrist?

That's interesting that you feel there was no difference

Took mine off my DSSD and the difference was very noticeable ... far more comfortable to wear with it off

Worth the effort to find a more accommodating AD, the dive link extension is quite uncomfortable. And also totally unnecessary if you have no intention of taking it diving.

I will give it a week and see how I get on but at the moment it is fine.

Mine came straight off and asked the AD to order two extra links for me FOC.
As I have big wrists the dive extensions never feel comfortable.

first thing I did on my SD43 was removing the extension as its longer than a standard link and makes the bracelet stand out from the wrist, which wasnt aesthetically pleasing to me and also felt less comfortable while wearing

Removed mine straight away, much more comfortable without it on the watch.

I have a similar size wrist and love my SD43 - it is noticeable at first I guess but you very quickly get used to it and it actually looks great (IMO heh heh)

Andy (Chalet) has kindly offered to meet me with his SD43. I have a Pelagos which is 50mm lug to lug & about the most similar I own. Clasp doesn’t sit perfectly, but watch head is just about ok, doesn’t overhang etc.

The other one I can’t make up my mind on is the Pepsi, tried a Batman on & thought it wore quite large, hence my concern with the SD43.
