Offered a Rolex 126603 at list

Just been offered a 126603 at list (£12,400).

What do you all think? It’s nice but never had two tone before and unsure

You're unlikely to be offered it above list is my 2p.

If I was going two tone sports I would go for the CHNR GMT.

I'm in the minority in that I actually quite like it.

Best advice I'd give is that if you like it and aren't that worried about flipping for big gains (i.e. would actually wear it) then do it (funds permitting).

I wouldn't be brave enough to buy it otherwise.

    Good Luck :)

Do you only ever buy things on the basis of how much it will make.

    Flippable? Probably.

Buy it and wear it if you like it.

If the money bothers you and you want an investment I wouldn't bother.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

Offered a Rolex 126603 at list

I had to make an (almost) split second decision as I popped into an AD while ooop nerth visiting my folks, as I had 60 mins or so before my train back to London was due to depart.

I got chatting to the sales guy and had a nice chat, and then he said did I want to look at this 126603 model. After I tried it on, he said he’d let me have it, if I wanted it.

But, in the end I decided a TT is not for me (except the CHNR mentioned above, which I do quite like), so turned the watch down.

I like everyone else can see C24 prices, so it probably would have been a risk free purchase, but can’t be arsed with the hassle if I don’t bond with it.

I think it's a pointless model, it has no purpose in so much as no one ever said I wish my two-tone Submariner was more waterproof. In my opinion it exists because Rolex are on a path to raising their average model price, rather than because there was a demand for it. Now they're creating a demand for models such as these by restricted supplies.

If every Rolex model was available at list in your dealership, would you even look at this model? If so then go for it, but don't, if your 'want' it just because you're able to.

That’s a good way to put it ! Half the time the want is there as it’s almost a free option to flip it at a profit in case you don’t ‘bond’ with it

I think the fact he "offered to let you have it" tells you all you needed to know on this model, I doubt you were the 1st to be offered it or turn it down.

If TT floats your boat then great, otherwise it would be the SS only for me.

Exactly. There's one for sale (at list, obv) on the Mappin & Webb website!

Would go for the SS Deepsea (black), there were a few on the window thread months ago, not too hard to come by.

If it’s a TT the Blue Sub (or CHNR) are both quite nice IMO.

It's too big, it is a SD with a cyclops (why?) and it's two tone (on a dive watch)! And it's 12 grand.

Each to their own but this is surely the ugliest watch in the Rolex range.

I do wish you lot would stop using numbers alone to describe Rolex models... I had no idea what a 126603 was and had to go away and Google it

So now I know it’s a 43mm two-tone Seadweller... and I think it looks horrible.

    So no, personally I wouldn’t.

It's 100% grim. The last decent sports Rolex were the five-digit models.

Up to you. You could probably flip it to grey for a small profit but theyre not mad sought after.

Personally i think theyre an abomination.

I've got to the stage with these posts that if I don't recognise the ref at all, it's got to be two-tone!

I don’t love my SD43 that much and I think the SD43 TT looks just plain awful.

To be fair, everything is 'In Stock' at list on the Mappin & Webb site. Here's a ceramic Daytona 116500LN in stock at list at Mappin's today according to the web. Not likely to be true though.

I also think it looks nice despite being two tone, big and cyclops (because now they can previously they couldn’t for technical reasons).

I prefer steel 5 digit, but a big two tone sea dweller works that a 5 digit two tone sub doesn’t.

The CHNR is the Two Tone for people who don’t do Two tones..... as for the other two tone models including this Sea-Dweller 43 it comes down to whether it’s your thing or not. There’s a lot of unnecessary negativity about TT watches IMHO but I’ve enjoyed all the Rolex TT models I’ve owned over the years (GMT’s, Subs, Daytona) and I expect the SD43 if I owned one would be no different.

Oh dear. I rather like it! It wouldn't be my one and only watch, but if I somehow came into ownership of it, I'd happily wear it.

There is something weirdly appealing about it. I must be old and tired.

  27. #27
The older, far nicer TT subs were less than half that price 10 years ago. And nobody wanted those back then, they were in every window alongside the Explorer and Explorer II. Which were also unloved. I have no idea what planet Rolex are on tbh?!

You are, and it is plain (semi) gold shiite.

I’ts mildy better looking in the flesh but I won’t be reaching for my wallet anytime soon.

I prefer it to the black and gold Sub, but prefer the blue and gold Sub to both. Price looks quite high, but that's the price.
It's just a matter of time...

    Didn’t spot that!!

Good looking but not everyone’s cup of tea.

I prefer the GMT two tone over the SD43 two tone and looking to add the GMT CHNR into the lineup. Doesnt feel all that appealing to me somehow on the SD..

I think this too - I would like one if I was to spend that much on a watch, but am going in the inexpensive direction nowadays.

For this money I'd go DSSD or Fifty Fathoms.

Yep a DSSD d blue is almost 3k cheaper. And much nicer IMHO, albeit based on only seeing the two tone dweller in photos.
