My watch went through the washing machine

It wasn’t deliberate but it had to happen someday.

It’s an old quartz watch I use when riding my motorcycle I left it in my bike jeans pocket.
It’s only rated splash proof yet it didn’t get one drop of water in it and it still works, pop on back.
It’s chipped the edge of the crystal but you can hardly notice it.

I wouldn’t have been surprised with a Gshock.

    anyone else done this?

    Edit it’s 30m wr

I think it must have stayed in the pocket until near the end or the glass would be worse.
But I would have expected water to get in,I’ve noticed I haven’t set the date.

Bank notes come out well from a quick wash and spin. Not tried it with a watch though as I tend to wear them on my wrist rather than in my pocket. Did it emerge nice and shiny?

    Wow, impressed!
My son seems to use this technique regularly for a set of cheap ear bud headphones, but never a watch!
Fair play that it still works.
    Pictures would help 😉

My uncle recently put his late dad's watch into the washing machine. It didn't survive; the crystal shattered.

A bit of a surprise really, I didn't know that my uncle knew where to find the washing machine...

Did it with a (vintage) Ploprof once.
Minor injuries to the washing machine, otherwise no problems.

Yes, the buffeting it recieves from being tumbled around is the greatest risk - otherwise its 'WR watch gets wet and keeps working' - gasp! Though it might depend on what temperature wash it got...a hot wash might be more of an issue.

I wonder if the washing machine is actually more at risk of damage than the watch!

The main thing, apart from clothes, which go through our washing machine are 5p pieces which my daughter leaves in her pockets.

This proves to be a real pain as it jams the pump and I have to drain the machine, we all know how easy that is, and clean out the filter. She is not the most popular person in the house if that happens!

I do try to remember to check but I’m getting on a bit and can be forgetful!
