I have an old Thermidor Caribbean 1000 ref 702 with a non-standard crown that doesn't screw down. It's otherwise in excellent condition and well worth saving. Spare original crowns (or spare anything for that matter) apparently do not exist in the wild and the only way I am likely to get one is to buy another Caribbean and rob Peter to pay Paul, which doesn't seem like a very good idea to me. It must be possible for someone to make a crown but I have no idea how to go about getting that done and it's made harder by the fact that I don't have one to use as a template. Has anyone got any words of wisdom on the best way to remedy this situation? Either by making one or by modifying the case to take something more generic?

Might be worth dropping Richard Askham a line.
He replaced the crown on my 715.
