    Omega NATO - Expensive?

I ordered this on Sunday and it arrived today.

I know some will scoff at the cost but they are probably old. It’s the softest, most malleable NATO out there....super, super comfy.

    Worth £125?

    To me.....yes :)

    Me too, they're awesome.

Tudor fabric straps are about that. But they are hand-woven from the worlds finest stuff, by naked virgins in a mountaintop cave somewhere in France.

Some of the virgins are girls too!

That one does not go with the speedmaster IMO.

    I’ve got a black version.

Yes. They are very good, and over-priced. But as mine came free with the used watch, I don’t mind.

£125 AND the wrong colour. Better luck next time.

  13. #13
Probably the best quality NATO's I've ever used. I like the look of the Tudor ones, but... fit is something different, a little like their very short leather straps - probably made for Beckham and Gaga ;)

The (I think it's a ) Venom NATO I have is a good alternative for a little less. But the cheap Admiralty Grey and black straps are good enough and and you don't feel so bad throwing them out and replacing them all the time - not sure how I'd feel if I went through the Omega versions quite as quickly.
It's just a matter of time...

Ive got the black and grey omega nato that my missus bought me. It’s the best quality nato I’ve ever come across but I’m scared to wear it for this reason. I might get a £10 version and stick my speedmaster on it. She won’t notice the difference and I won’t care about spilling curry all over it like I did with a previous nato!

Whatever you say, I wear a lot of blue as it compliments the ginger so it works for me . But thanks for your opinion.

£125 for a strip of nylon and a bit of bent tin with a brand stamp?

I have a plain black Omega Nato which was part of the big box when I bought my Speedmaster. It's a superb strap and as the temp has gone up it's just this morning replaced the rally strap that's been on for months.
There is no denying the quality and finish of them but I would be hard pushed to justify picking one up separately at the price Omega bangs them out for.

Are they made from 'precious' nylon?

I'm sure it's a great strap and I hope you get your money's worth. Personally, I'd be hard pushed to pay half what they cost.

This coming from an old fart who's probably spent n x Omega NATO cost on straps I'll never wear...

No, I would not pay that for a piece of nylon with a buckle.
I get mine from here and they are very good with a quick delivery.

I once got horse s##t all over a Nato when getting the beast out of a ditch. Both it and the CWC diver attached to it scrubbed up OK.

I have 4 - best quality Nato's by a mile. Not cheap but I feel they're worth it. And the red pouch is so pretty

The Omega NATOs do look fantastic, as is the price. For a "posh" NATO and one which works better on the wrist, without any flappiness, I'd recommend the excellent Haveston straps, as seen here on the PRS-29B.

I was about to hit reply to say the same. Haveston are the best ones I've used. Save yourself a hug wad of cash. OEMs are playing an absolute blinder with their pricing for 'branded' goods. Madness.

Nice extras, I had one that came with the original Speedy Tuesday. Tried it once but didn't find it comfortable, too thick and seem to remember one of the metal keeps dug in.

Don't think I would buy one for £140.

What's so special about them compared to other NATO's, is the material that different? I haven't got any NATO straps, but curious as to what they've done to make it more comfortable, and maybe why others haven't if they can make something similar at a much lower price point

I have a Speedy Tuesday strap and it’s Polyester vs Polymide.

The latter is much softer and comfortable.

Yep, I think #ST1 has a polyester NATO but #ST2 Ultraman has a polymide one. The polymide is definitely softer and more flexible.

The material is very soft making it fit more comfortably vs. £10 NATO. The Polymide is almost like seatbelt material so very supple and malleable.

The Omega nato does feel quite ‘luxurious’...for a simple strap. It’s nicely made. The metal parts/buckle have ‘Omega’ stamped on them.
Because they are rugged, and nylon, you can wash them, repeatedly, in a washing machine with no damage. Which means you can have a nice clean strap which lasts for many years, and it’s a proper bit of Omega kit.
In that sense, £125 becomes a bit more bearable.

  44. #44
I won't be putting my leather Backed Omega NATO's in the washing machine. My Phenome NATO is probably better made, softer, cheaper, more likely to be washed - but doesn't have the Omega hardware:(

So... Omega for occasional wear. Phenome or Phoenix for Rolex, Eddie's or whoever's for anything else.
It's just a matter of time...

It's what you like at the end of the day.

I have a couple of NATOs from cousins and am really happy with them. They have held up really well and if they wear too much I'll bin them, but I've never tried on a pricey NATO so have not reference point.

I get more annoyed when people wear them wrong (in my opinion) haha.

I see that Panerai now sell branded NATOs. They're only £180 each (including buckle)!

OP, this is not a facetious question, but do Omega describe that strap as blue or black?

I’m just thinking it might look rather smart on my 2255:

Plenty of 'seatbelt' fabric NATO's here if you find the Omegas a bit rich.
