    Tunas

Well I've just received this today, love it but must admit I know nothing about Tunas.

Where can I find out more about them and what is the league table of Tunas?

Yeoman Seiko blog is a good place to start reading about tuna

Personally I have 2 tunas, and I guess pictures are better than just wall of texts

One of the new solar tunas and part of the huge range of shrouded divers that Seiko has recently released. Arguably not a real Tuna, more a Tuna style. The original Tunas are quartz and rated as saturation divers so are over 300m, the larger ones being 1000m rated.
These new solar Tunas are only rated to 200m so not saturation divers. They are nice watches but not a true Tuna in the seiko world, more Tuna style. Still nice though and more affordable than a real Tuna.
It's like not every watch with a rotating bezel is a sub, but many are submariner style. And so for this watch and many other seikos, just adding a shroud does not make it a real Tuna.
    Lots of info here:

Illustrates my point; one fantastic real tuna and one field watch with compass bezel and a case shroud - tuna style but definitely not a tuna, not even a divers watch (bezel can rotate both ways on your field tuna and can't measure dive time)

    Welcome to the Tuna club
This link is a little bit old and out of date but good for some of the history.

They’re great watches and the unique design just grows on you. I was sceptical until I tried the smaller Solars . Made me want the larger versions and although they sound really big on paper they wear so comfortably.

    Also have an SBBN031 inbound.

More on Seiko dive watches in general:

Love the approach. Design a watch that lets no helium in. Rather than a valve to release it.

"Tuna" is a fanboy creation not a model designation or 'real' dive watch accreditation - now that's out of the way👹 - Gotta love a bit of Tuna.

These two will shortly be back in my grasp (the vintage having been my old watch that I sold and have now reacquired, whilst the 007 is to replace another that I owned years ago). I absolutely LOVE Tunas!

I always wondered what the fuss was about.
    Then I bought one
I now love them and I am thinking about adding a spring drive emperor tuna.
They are comfortable and not as big as you would think.
I have these 2 plus a Sharkmaster homage which was bought to try the size before I took the plunge it is not a bad quality watch to be honest.

I need to get this one serviced though, any suggestions?

    I will get my coat.

    Tuna's are addictive...

This is an old pic but not much has changed... Swapped a 7549-7010 for a sbbn037 Padi Tuna and currently have a 7549-7010 with Professional 300m dial incoming... It's a desease...

Some really nice collections here, I find that the style is very marmite. I have to say I like them, but am also quite aware that it seems to be a bit of a rabbit hole for those collecting them.
