    PayPal help

I’m trying to pay for a watch in Euros via PayPal (private sale).

Ignoring the fact for a minute I’m probably getting my pants pulled down by PP on the exchange rate, the guy selling the watch wants €1635 NET to him.

Through PayPal I seem to have two options - either 1. choosing how much in GBP I want to send; or 2. how much the recipient receives, and it then calculates how much that will cost me in GBP.

So if I put €1635 into the ‘recipient receives’ box, is that how much he actually gets (and I’m paying the fees somewhere in there), or will he still be charged a fee himself?

    TIA

Correct. He will receive the €1635.

It should also tell you what fees you pay (if you have to pay)...

I remember that at some point there was a fee for international payments but I believe it only applies under certain circumstances... Unrelated to currency conversion.

I googled it before posting the question here, and on international (cross-currency) payments there seems to be talk of a fee at either end, so for both the sender and the recipient?

The seller here is asking for 4% on top of the €1635 to cover his fees.
