Could be a slow worm but more likely some sort of Orb Weaver.
On holiday and there are some spiders by the pool. Mrs Gyp is concerned that they are killer spiders and we are moments from death.
Anyone know what they are, and if I need to knock up a will pronto?
This one brought down a gecko
Spiky eggs!

apply pressure to one with your finger & let us know how you get on.
Which country are you in ?
My wife was bitten by a brown recluse spider last year whilst in florida. Originally thought it was a mosquito bite until she visited a doctor after it kept pussing back up.
Certainly looks like it. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latrodectus_geometricus
Brown widow indeed. I spotted a recluse spider in our holiday bungalow on our first family trip to Florida. I was unable to catch/kill it - it went back under the fridge. My wife is afraid of spiders (to say the least...) so I didn’t mention it to her!
I went to the the office of the resort the next day and mentioned my encounter. The guy there whipped out a map from under the desk and showed me ‘mug shots’ of spiders to determine my house ‘pet’. I was able to finger the type of spider from the book. “Recluse, not good. We will take care of it!” So when we went out to the beach, pest control entered the bungalow for a chemical war.
It took a few years before I told my wife about it.
Back in the distant history of earth, was there a time when Florida was part of Australia? Florida seems to have an unusually large number of nasty wee beasties.
