    Insect Identification Please

My wife is in Italy for a while. She is staying near Rome and took this phone picture of an insect lurking outside her apartment. She did not say how big it was but from the photo I would think maybe 3 to 4 cm? Perhaps larger. Can anyone tell me what it is? It's definately not a Slow Worm!

Are you absolutely certain of that?

I've heard they can be masters of disguise...

No idea what it is, but it looks impressive!
So clever my foot fell off.

    Ha Ha! Very good.
As an aside, she has informed me that she has bought me a solar powered rocking Pope to put on a window sill. How thoughtful! Her taste for artifacts is as bad as her taste in husbands!
It surprises me though. I would not have thought that such a religious country would have a sense of humour about such things. I still hate it though! Not for religious reasons you must understand. It's just too tacky.

Its moulting, and its a leaf sucker.
Probably goes darker once it dries out after moulting.

If a woman sees it, it’s history 😂
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

Whatever it is, it is definitely moulting.

The plant looks like a type of samphire,
