    Brighton- Parking

    Hello All

I will be visiting Brighton for the first time and would like advice on a reasonably priced area to park for a few days as I have seen some horrific charges from NCP etc.

    Any advice would be welcome,

    Many thanks

    Brighton- Parking

If you don’t need your car for a few days, dump it on residential road.

Last time I did this the nearest free residential parking I could find was on the north side of Preston Park, which is a couple of miles from the seafront.

Preston park is a bit of a stretch. Parking is restricted all the way to Portslade now and isn't cheap anywhere. Depending on your plans I'd suggest the train. The JustPark App has a few parking spaces which I've used elsewhere and has always worked well.
Brighton is just expensive but worth the trip.

Might be worth a try then getting a taxi to the Airbnb in the centre

Travelling from Near Manchester so train maybe too expensive compared to 50mpg Toyota Yaris, looking forward to seeing Brighton

    Good luck,
    Parking is a bugger,

You can leave it outside my place in woodingdean, if I am free I can drop you in the centre, or a taxi is a tenner, bus is 3 quid I think.

Also it’s very civilised to the north side of Preston Park, so no need to worry about your car unnecessarily.

Nice stroll through the park via The Lanes to the seafront if the weather’s nice and you’re not in a hurry.

Going back 10 years ago and when the kids where nippers, we used to park on the south side of Preston Park on day trips to Brighton. It was then a relatively short walk to the sea front. Shows you how much Brighton have clamped down on this.

My preferred car park is regency square, close to the town centre, secure, plenty of spaces and not too bad at £18/24 hours.

Or make Caroline smile and park and ride, the parking is free so you'll just pay the bus.

Really generous and a testament to the TZ Forum. What makes this place special.
You could also park at mine but I'm Henfield now so about 15 miles from Brighton and a £30 taxi. ;D

Avoid the NCP behind the cinema on the sea front, it was £32 for anything over 6 hours I think, huge rip off.

Seconded, last time I was there with friends we couldn't park anywhere 🙁. Multi storey were full, not an inch spare so we left.

I live about half an hour from Brighton and driving there really is a pain in the backside. It takes me half and hour to get to Brighton, half an hour to get into Brighton, a quarter of an hour to find somewhere to park and then another quarter of an hour to walk back to where I want to go.
The good news is, the busses are fantastic. Take Seadog up on his offer and download the Brighton and Hove bus app. A day network ticket will cost you a fiver and you can go anywhere on any Brighton and Hove bus for 24 hours. The app also has live bus tracking, maps etc and your ticket is on your phone. The busses also have USB chargers (well, the ones I go on do) so keep your charger cable with you.
It’s a Green Party council and they have made it a bit of a bugger for cars in the city, but with investment like that in the busses you can’t really argue.

The one and only time I parked in Brighton, I made it my business to use the underground multi-storey in which David McCallum memorably gets sucked off in his Jag in Michael Winner's Dirty Weekend.

It was rammed; I'd like to think by lots of other Michael Winner fans.

Being a poor and impoverished pensioner, I don't even have to pay for the bus thanks to the bus pass. I use this method quite often and it is surprisingly efficient, especially during week days.

Sounds like Brighton are trying like Edinburgh to keep cars out of the centre, last time I used the car in the centre I was about to use a multi storey near the castle till I noticed it was £8 an hour, thankfully we use the bus usually, free travel and I can get a wee drink with lunch.

Last time I was there I used a backstreet set up which turned out very well, pretty central, friendly & safely done.

Regency Secure Parking, 1 Regency Mews = £28 for 48 hours, which in that town is good!

We used the justpark website and found a place at Metropolitan college (I think) parked after 4 on a Friday and left Sunday evening, cost £15 odd right in the city centre.

I can recommend the food in the Victory pub on the edge of the lanes, veggie but good food is good food. It's also a unusual and lovely looking pub.

Don’t worry about giving us a lift, the opportunity of parking and advice on a good restaurant is more than kind enough!!

    Many thanks

    Brighton- Parking

I lived in Brighton for 25 years....OH born there , offspring born there ...it’s changed massively and permits extended further and further out ...... but even years ago after being away for a few days in Monaco we parked under the Town Hall car park.....it was cheaper to park in Monaco below Casino Square & Cafe de Paris for the day than it would have been in Brighton....this before the greens got in..... I kid you not.....

I live in Devon now.... most towns half an hour or hour on street free, or £1.70 a day in central car parks or the rugby club or leisure centre in Barnstaple.....Exeter a bit more like Brighton to be fair but still relatively reasonable proces

Thought most TZers parked willy nilly (Tesco all day etc.) because there's 'nothing they can do'.
