How do you organise your watch box?

So far I have tried organising my collection by brand, style, movement, country of original, chronology of purchase, manufacture date and case material. So far nothing has felt quite right. What do you do?

That's an interesting question as I've been trying to do the same.

What has worked best for me so far is by style, grouping the dress, and divers, then split by dial colour.

That being said I am still thinking it doesn't look right......

I have a 6 slot box for diver's, a 6 slot box for big PAMs, and the rest nestle in my bookcase.

What do you call these "zipped pouches" and where do you get them? looks pretty thick and definitely safer than my cloth ones.

They are pretty robust, I got them from Acetimer a while ago, postage looks a bit harsh now, I don’t remember paying that! He does smaller ones for just watch heads too.

I think you are over thinking things OP. I take one out of the watch box and put the one on my wrist back in its place. The next day I do the same again.

It never crossed my mind that there should be any sort of order. I wish I hadn't opened this thread now.

For me it’s by order of which I bought them. First on top left and last on bottom right.

interesting , mine is a 12 wall mount box , I go from top left with all autos and my most expensive followed by two of the same make then 3 white dials then 2 in order of favouritism then my cheapest auto, then 3 quartz . completely mad organisation with no logic other than I think they look better displayed this way.

By style / function - dress (top left), then daily, then beater (bottom right).

I put the Rolex watches in a Rolex watch box, the Omegas in a few watch boxes, the Tudors in another watch box, and 5 selected watches in a current rotation watch box. There is no specific order to which watch goes where.
It's just a matter of time...

Mine are mainly in sets, although there are all sorts of overlaps so I sometimes have to decide which of two or three containers a watch should sit in. Usually this is sorted out by the capacity of the boxes.

The currents sets are roughly something like:

    Flight Qualified by NASA
    Cosmonaut Watches
    ESA + Other Space Related
    Speedmasters and flightmasters
    70's Omegas
    Sinn + Eberhard
    Modded Vostoks
    Vintage Smiths/Bensons
    Timefactors
    Early Calculator Watches + Hummers
    Random Vintage + duplicates
    Random Modern + duplicates

I have the regular rotation box next to my bed that stores 3. The forth regular rotation will be in the leather box on the bedside table as that being worn. Also on the bedside table will be the metal G-SHOCK.

Another box downstairs is sentimental watches. A small cheap case has my CWC quartz’s. and watch box has the others in..

I store mine alphabetically, and I do the same with my socks.

    Anything else would be weird.

Well, for any that are of a certain quality and therefore value. The rest just get tossed into a draw

Mine is exactly the same! 10 slot box, 5 top row will be in there always as they were mainly gifts, had a couple over 20 years and my skx007 first auto. 5 bottom in order they were bought.

Obviously seeing this I don’t have as many as some of you.
However the way I do it is a big watch next to a smaller one so they don’t rub or ding each other.
The solar watches are left out near a window.

Each one is thrown over my shoulder into a large toy container when I have had my fussy with them.
