    Bought a Rotary this morning

Picked up this old jewellers shop clock this morning. Will rewire it and get it up and running in the summer holidays, and then it will live in my garden studio.

Love that, I'd like something like that for my kitchen. Great find.

I was expecting some sort of confessional thing in your post rather than that - sort of 'I bought a Rotary Chavitimer, but I'm not proud of it' kind of thing!
btw I have 3 Chavitimers and I'm prepared to admit that to (almost) anybody!!!

Nice to know it is vintage and hasn't been converted to quartz :-)

Indeed. I wired it last night and it’s running fine too. A very nice sweep to the seconds hand. It also used to have a light inside - the Clio fittings are still inside to hold a circular light tube, so I will be getting a new switch and bulb and have that “element” running again too, soon.

Also need to get some chain for it to hang from - the fittings are still on the case, so an easy job.

    Cheers

Sounds nice mate, you will have to post some illuminated pics when it is done, I wonder if you can still get the old circular tubes, I remember my grandparents having a circular fitting in their lounge :-)
Does the movement have any branding, Smiths or Metamec maybe?
    Cheers :-)

Tubes are still availlable, yes. Will post more pics when the project is finished, including the movement. I think it said British made, but didn’t notice a make - will check again at the weekend when I have it apart again, as going to replace the power cable now I know it runs ok.

    Cheers
