    BEWARE: Virgin media scam email!

Anyone who has a virgin media account be on the look out for this email. The guy at virgin said it's catching a few people out due to the fact it looks very convincing.
The content will basically say that they're system has detect a problem with you payment method and to update the details via a link. Every part of the email looks very convincing, if you should receive one contact Virgin and they will give you an email address to forward it to.

As with all these emails, whether from VirginMedia, PayPal or ILikeBigButts.com, the approach should be:
    1. Do not click on any links
    2. Close email
    3. Log in to the normal VirginMedia (or relevant) site
    4. Satisfy yourself that there is no issue
    5. Delete email

(steps 3 and 4 can typically be skipped)

The moment any email asks me to verify my details etc by clicking a link it finds its way to the bin!

    6. Smash all your HDDs with sledge hammer and set them on fire

On a more serious note, mass spam/phishing emails are very easy to spot - they do not address you by name/surname.

I had something similar but through the post, called Virgin and they reckoned it was a scam post but questioning them further they found that their automated systems had in fact sent me 3 letters all on the same day. One letter to say there was a problem, another to say to the effect that I must have cancelled a direct debit therefore my service would go off and then a final letter stating that all had been sorted and that I had nothing to worry about.
