Hi, Does anyone have a recommendation where I can get a battery replacement for my Golden Tuna (7046-7009).
My local repairer is unable to do it due to 'needing a special tool'.
Is anyone able to help ?

I’m not familiar with the ref,but is it the one with monocoque case? If that’s the case (pun intended) yes it’s hard to change battery on that particular model as everything has to be done from the dial side
Few years ago I was about to get the darth tuna but when I ask,same thing...nobody can change the battery except Seiko’s authorized service that will cost me around $90-100ish (this is the price from 2013/2014ish)
Pay Seiko the £75. They will replace gaskets too.

I have to conclude with this in the knowledge that it with be done correctly, fresh gaskets and pressure tested to spec.
Pay the money and get it done right. ✅
75GBP is quite a lot for replacing the battery on a "normal" watch but the case of this one involves quite a bit of time and fiddling so 75GBP doesn't sound that much if you actually see what they have to go through to change the battery.
I guess I take my comment back, didn't realize they did more than just change the battery

If you are brave you could replace it yourself?? I replaced the battery on my Darth a few years back (same process for the golden tuna) and produced a short how-to-guide

Brilliant, excellent step by step guide.
I fitted a new crystal to mine and you really do need the right tools. The first issue with mine were the shroud screws which appear to have been fitted with loctite (at the time somebody said Seiko does this as standard), the screws had been got at before and although I thought i had the right size screwdriver I didn't and I had to buy a better fitting one and freezer spray to eventually remove them. Buying four replacements was a real pain as the removal process did more damage and they werent cheap, eventually sourcing some from the States.
The second issue is refitting the crystal ring, it has to be fitted carefully due to the fine thread and also very firmly screwed in otherwise the bezel wont rotate..the indents in the ring are also shallow which doesnt give much purchase for the tool..so the fear is that a slip will wreck the crystal.
So..with the above in mind £75 is a pretty good deal By the way, I didnt fit a battery at the time which was a bit stupid now that I know whats involved!
