Thread: Ana-Digi options

    Ana-Digi options

    Hi,
used to have a Breitling Aerospace with co-pilot, which I quite liked except for the rotating crown method of accessing the functions, which I just couldn't master. About a year ago I gave it to my nephew, but now looking for another ana-digi, but with an easier (for me) way of accessing the functions when the watch is on the wrist. Got a budget of about £1500, new or used, similar face layout to the Aerospace would be good. Drawn to the following Casio models if anyone knows where I could source new:

    Casio Titanium G-Shock MRG-7600D-1BJF
    casio g-shock mrg-7700b-1bjf
    Casio Titanium G-Shock MRG-7700B-1BJF
    Casio Pro Trek PRW-60T-7A

Alternatively, any other suggestions for an ana-digi?
    Cheers
    Ian

Orient made an interesting one a while ago but finding one is a bit 'needle in the haystack'.
I also had a cheap and cheerful yellow dial Pulsar which I'm not sure why I sold it
"Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. The third time it's enemy action."

'Populism, the last refuge of a Tory scoundrel'.

I’ve had the Tag Heuer Chronotimer and liked that.

Pulsar currently available at a very reasonable price here

Yeah the Orient is like a Brightling homage almost, really cool looking. I did have a blue dial one but sold it after a year or so, was looking for a grey dial for ages but they hardly ever appear.

Otherwise Seiko do some really nice Ana-digi’s that you don’t often see.

I like the look of the new GST-B200, https://world.g-shock.com/asia-mea/e...teel/gst-b200/. Time syncs using bluetooth four times a day.

There are a few which use the generic ETA version of the Aerospace movement, but they all work the same way, via the crown. Aside from the options above, if you stick with Breitling there’s the B-1, which adds chronograph pushers but is probably a bit out of budget.

If you like the lightness of titanium, though, and want something with loads of functions, an alarm about a million times louder than the Aerospace and a lovely logical multi-pusher control scheme, then IMHO the answer is an Omega X-33. You won’t find the newest “Skywalker” for your budget I shouldn’t think, but there’s an earlier one on SC for what I think is an excellent price. No affiliation with the seller, but it strikes me as a great way to try the Omega approach for a not-ridiculous outlay.

I bought the following last year a Casio PRW6100FC which comes on the composite bracelet which i prefer to the strap.(Should be around £500 but bought for £300 in a sale)

Although under your budget i looked at the more expensive casio ranges and didn't feel i was getting much more for the money.

I disagree about the Omega X 33...i had the new version the Skywalker and it did nothing for me and was way overpriced for what is was so it was sold.

Keep us updated on any purchase as i am always looking for another ana digital watch.

If you're thinking of going vintage, Heuer made a nice one IMO: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Heuer-Vin...l/223561596402

I've got one and love it

Thanks for the replies. Some good options there. How about a Hamilton Khaki Flight Timer, anyone had/have one of these?
Casios are looking good options although some of the case sizes are a bit large at ~50mm, will look more into the H558.
Tissot T Touch could be an option,
Omega X33 I've looked at previously and seems expensive for what it is,
    Cheers

You could go a little more vintage and get a Breitling Pluton. They have the Chrono style buttons on the side.
Seem to be good value too, in the £600 bracket.

Nightmare if you have issues with it, no service modules or anything.

Not really, the movement is a Miyota Y652, still available as NOS, about $150 or so.
Breitling won't touch it, but any decent watch tech should be able to swap it for you.

If your budget is £1500 then you can have a X33 for less than this. I would also consider the resale value, which would potentially make the X33 cheaper in the long-term.

This one is way below your list and some of the suggestions, but this GA835 or the more generic GA800 would make a useful companion beater Ana-digi with lots of features, great backlight and very nice value for money.

Ya know where I might get Y652? Can’t find any NOS on the bay (can’t remember if I’m allowed to use the name)

The GA800 is a fantastic Ana-Digi - brilliant backlight on both the dial and the digital display - which on the positive display version is very clear and easy to read. One touch stopwatch, the hands move out the way of the digi display with a button press, and on mine the hands hit the markers with absolute precision. As it’s neither atomic or solar the alarm is decently loud, plus you get the usual G shock toughness, all in a sensible size unlike a lot of silly large G’s. Sadly I rarely wear mine as I hate the cut-out resin case around the dial, just fugly - but I still think it’s the best Ana-digi I’ve had in years, and mine was £70!

    Here's one:
    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Y652-Anal...UAAOSwMQ1b9G19

    A bit more than $150, though it's £150GB.

However, some more research has shown that there is actually a Hattori Y652 - Check out this thread from this parish here...

I really like my T Touch (wearing it today infact) lovely build and the titanium makes it light and practical. The actual shape of the strap is my favourite part tbh.

At 43mm it’s on the big side though.....

All of my watches are now ana-Digital

All are Breitling inc B1 and B50

Ive paid for the new Arnie that's out in September - it looks very very good for money - well within budget - and a B1 can be had too for under £1500 (though has the same operating system as you had before)

So many choices - I love them all tbh

    Hi,
    todays shortlist is:
CASIO PROTREK MULTI FIELD LINE CARBON LIMITED EDITION PRW-7000X-1JR
    CASIO PROTREK PRW-50T-7AJF
    Seiko SNJ025 Solar Arnie & SNJ027
    Casio Watch Edifice ECW-M300EDB-1AER
    Casio Titanium Watch MRG-7700B-1BJF
    Casio Titanium Watch MRG-7600D-1BJF
Tissot T touch II Titanium or Expert solar

Will be down in London next week for a few days so will check out options and no doubt this will change. I reckon 2 purchases could be in order, the Seiko 'Arnie' (the Mrs suggested that one!) and AN Other, maybe one of the Protreks on the list.
Watch this space and please keep the suggestions coming.

I’m definitely looking to get the Seiko Arnie reissue when available and like a nice Ana-Digi.

Just have 2 at present, Seiko H556-5050 and a Tag 2000 Multigraph which uses the Aerospace crown method to access the functions. I really like it and find it pretty easy to operate on the wrist.

    Cheers

    Status update

    Hi,
so narrowed down to 2 options after a few days in London last week:

    Seiko SNJ027
Tissot T touch Expert solar II T1104204405100

Probably going to go for both & so far been offered them both for £1150 from one dealer - assuming buying both from the same source would give the best deal. Given the Seiko is a new model and the tissot relatively new, I guess this is a reasonable discount(~12%) but I think I should be able to squeeze a bit more. Any opinions on choice or possible deal?
    cheers

    Hi,
no one had the new one in stock, not even the Seiko boutique in Knightsbridge, who were actually not that helpful or interested.

    Order placed

Well, placed order today with Jura Watches for both the Seiko and Tissot, delivery TBC.

So both arrived this week. Very pleased with both, the Tissot is a clever bit of kit.
