After starting my first full time job in finance my parents said I should buy a nice watch that I could wear for work. After trawling round the jewellery shops in Leeds and trying on a number of different watches I finally settled on this one. I wore it almost every day for the next 7 years until an opportunity to travel and work overseas presented itself at which point the watch went into safe keeping at the bank for the next 7 years. On taking it out of storage the watch had somehow got some corrosion on the hands and dial and so in for a service it went. Dial and hand replaced the watch now looks like this.

My daily is now one of two G Shocks and this gets very little wear, but I’ll never forget trailing round the shops to get it, and it’ll always be in my collection. It’s not the most expensive watch, but back in 99 is cost me £995 - almost all of my first wage packet.

    Money well spent.

At 35mm case size it’s on the smaller side and with a thickness of just 7mm it’s a watch that slips under any cuff and disappears.

picked this up recently and it is lovely. Amazing how it catches the light - "light play". Makes me want to jump toward the earth at the speed of sound 😂

Just the one Zenith for me.

    This lovely looking Captain.

I think my next watch will be a Zenith of some description. (or else a Tudor Black Bay 58!).

Nice to see the recently posted EP HWs. I’ve been ogling the Zenith Primes, which is the same movement in a 38mm case. Currently one on eBay for about 1900, which seems a fair price but I don’t have the funds at the moment. It may have to go on the future purchases list!

I bought mine from a Horrids January sale, as seen in the accompanying catalogue.

Some real bargains back in the day:

Me too!Do you struggle to tuck the free end of the rubber strap into the keepers? I found the strap to be too short & the keepers could only be engaged if they were getting involved with the deployant. Fortunately I much prefer it on the bracelet.

Zenith claim the black surface finish is much harder than normal pvd, but then they would wouldn’t they.

Yes, a keeper does seem to find its way near to the deployant. Not really an issue but I will have to take more notice next time I wear it.

PVD is a process, not a material.

It is very possibly that Zenith apply a harder material than others but the most common black material used in the PVD process on watches, is DLC ( Diamond like carbon).

The issue is that, in general, the harder the material is then the more brittle it is. What is better is a less hard but tougher material which is less likely to chip.

Here’s mine, purchased earlier this year. Previously had the 42mm with a more traditional silver dial, but this 38mm version seems much better proportioned to me.

Heres my one and only. Even better, having made the last payment on it last month, its all mine now! Never been much of a chronograph guy, but the Chrono Tipo has "sung" to me since its release. I love everything about this watch, and am very happy to own it!

Here is my second Zenith. Bought off the forum a few weeks ago

It's a numbered limited edition (1 of only 500). Perfect dimensions and lovely retro case shape.

Can't believe these are so undervalued in the second hand market, it's a stunning watch.

Bought this Defy Extreme earlier today - my first Zenith. Struggling to get a picture that does it justice but it's awesome IMO.

Same, too puny a wrist - this watch is absolutely epic!

Love so many of the pieces that Zenith make.
The layout of their Chronographs and date features.
But as others have touched on, if only some were 40mm or slightly less?

    Show us your Zenith!

I am currently obsessing over a black-dial Chronomaster sport on bracelet.

    Any owners and feedback?
It might be my One watch - certainly the most worn and I tend to do everything with a watch on, so thinking if it is robust enough

It wears surprisingly smaller than the case size might suggest, thanks to the integrated bracelet/strap design, which gives a very manageable lug-to-lug measurement.

Maybe this is a stupid question but is it possible to swap the deployant to a pin buckle on a Defy strap? I want to keep the strap as the shape at the lug is notched, but the deployant is not comfortable.
