They certainly are a cool looking watch and one of my favourite quartz pieces.
Becoming almost impossible to find nice clean examples now, especially with good bracelets.
Always felt more substantial than an Aerospace

As a pure guess, I’d say there’s a very good chance the pins are the same. Similar link configuration on the 2254 so the tubes should be in the same place
Very nice! Congratulations.
Here's a nice (but pricey!) one - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/173903663345
Congratulations. It's a very useful watch alongside all it's other great qualities.
If anyone has a NASA NATO they no longer need please get in touch 😉
I have a gen2 that I bought from the SC, cracking watch which is.probably one of my faves.

I’d probably like to add back a nice Gen2 example to my collection at some point. Getting a bit anachronistic but definitely a tool watch designed fit-for-purpose.
I did like my Gen 1 - they're great watches: very intuitive to use and the function set is brilliant. The only thing I changed on mine was to fit a Gen 2 crown, which made a big difference to ease of use. Very straightforward to do, with a bit of care. Of course, that was when you could get a crown from Cousins for £40-ish, I imagine it's a bit tougher these days.

Here's how to reset the time - skip to the 5 min mark.
I always wondered why the X-33 design team fitted a chromed bezel? It would have immeasurably improved the looks had it had a Matt titanium bezel. It’s always looked wrong to me on a genuinely functional “tool” watch.
I think that there's an element of personal preference - for me the Gen.2 probably edges it, but only just. I like the fact that the Gen.1 is the original and prefer the blue backlight of the 1666A module. The brushed bezel and pushers of the Gen.2 are more subtle than the earlier polished versions but I prefer the overall bezel design of the Gen.1. I love the unusual crown of the Gen.2 and it's nice to have the caseback engraving and thermocompensated movement in that version. There are enough differences for me to convince myself that it is okay to have the pair, and I keep one on the bracelet and the other on an alternative strap for added variety.
