Thread: A woman on the moon in 2024. What will Omega do?

  1. #1

A woman on the moon in 2024. What will Omega do?

I heard on the news that NASA, thanks to additional funding for their programmes from POTUS, are planning to put a woman on the moon in 2024. This got me wondering about Omega's special edition to commemorate the event? Perhaps a more attractive derrier will feature on the sub-seconds dial? Any thoughts? I know there are those with great design skills here on TZ and I think this is an opportunity for you to pitch to Omega your new ideas and utilise those Photoshop skills?

Omega have (had?) Speedmaster Automatic with MOP dial.

    I thinking 'limited' edition.

It would need to be a quartz - as women are never wrong.

They'll release a special edition that looks just like the mans special edition, it's all about equality these days.

    Perhaps a 'camel toe' instead.

Nice to hear, at least they'll keep it tidy.

Perhaps they can tidy up the mess left by Buzz and his friends?

It will be called the Speedmistress and the running seconds hand will have a cross on it to look like the female gender symbol

This is assuming that NASA stick with Omega as the watch of choice, another manufacturer might jump in with a bit of sponsorship cash?

I've never thought that about the 12.00 symbol before. Now I can't unthink it!

Frankly I'm always happy to take the p**s out of Omegas apparently never ending Special Editions,

Release a special 'Limited edition' model of 2002420024 copies, but rest assured the Naiad lock will let you see which limited edition number you have clearly.

Or some of us may look back and think the good old days when political correctness hadn't sucked the life out of us all.

    Oh its political correctness?

How about its a bloke smart enough to have some respect for a woman who has and will achieve more than the bunch mindless throwback bores who haven't evolved since the 1970s using her as a platform for their old, tired, jokes.

oooh matching handbags, hehehe, attractive derrieres, hehehe, get some cleaning done, hehehe, camel toes, hehehe.

If you think there's any life in the knackered old rubbish in this thread, you've lost the plot.

Well, people have made some scathing remarks about Buzz's derrier too. Hats off to anyone, regardless of gender, who completes a NASA program and gets into space.

    Gents

Would those of you who all came out with the old corny "jokes" about women be prepared to show them to their wives, daughers, girlfriends and female co workers.

To be frank, you have not come across as funny or witty, you have come across as brain dead and pathetic.

I thought it was more a Micky take of Omegas countless speedmaster variations?
Personally I would just engrave the back unless NASA is giving the mission a particular name?

I could be wrong though as like all men I only do 2 things wrong.

    Everything I say
    And everything I do.

Am I too late to the party?

Have there been any black people in space yet? I could make another Speedmaster featuring fried chicken and watermelon on the dial.

Jesus Christ. Really? I know that, when you aim for funny and miss, you hit, what? Inappropriate? Offensive?

But seriously, that's not funny. It's offensive and stupid. Won't say this often on here, but I think that post requires an apology.

And you, the best possible reading of this post is that you're mocking Lampoc. Otherwise, you're someone else who needs to take a look at themselves.

I can read the tone of the thread, which degenerated rather quickly in to far too many stereotypes.

However I’d like to think most of it is male bravado and these people don’t actually convey the opinions portrayed in these stereotypes.

Misogyny and blatant racism on display here for all the world to see. Some of the posters here should be ashamed of themselves.

With respect, Lampoc is rather intelligently using dumb racial stereotypes to shine a light right back on the dumb woman stereotypes being spaffed all over this thread. Hence the iron, hoover and fridge subdials on the speedy combined with equally obvious fried chicken and watermelon for another demographic that used to be used, along with women, to create "comedy gold"

You're right. It *is* offensive and stupid.
That's the exact point he's making, and given your response, he's made it remarkably well.

There is a lot of mis-reading going on here. It is more entertaining than the naive question asked.

What would be even worse if their employers found out that they were writing sexist rubbish during working time and even more worse, how would the employer feel if these idiots were supervising women staff. Anyone who supervises women and is dumb enough to make the gormless jokes quoted here is proving beyond a shadow of doubt that they are unfit for the job.
