    Paul Thorpe is back

Remember him....the dealer who made a stream of blogs on You Tube in 2016, and then disappeared from view? He suddenly removed all his old blogs from the net and was no-where to be seen
Well, he’s back with a load of new blogs. Radiates ‘sincerity’ and a lot of people seem to like him. I have my doubts......

I heard that you have to donate to his Patreon account to gain access to his YouTube videos?

It appears that Paul Thorpe has uploaded his old videos but to gain access to his 'How to become a watch dealer' series requires a Patreon subscription.

The topic was discussed on Marc Goldberg's channel.

    Yep.

    Nope.

My comment was specific to the 'I heard that you have to donate to his Patreon account to gain access to his YouTube videos' statement. He's put back over 50 videos so far and says he will continue to add more historic ones and will also put up additional new ones for public viewing. Separate to that, he's intending to make 'How to become a watch dealer' videos that require a subscription to be viewed via Patreon.

Here he tells you for nothing why you shouldn't become a watch dealer...

Is it the accent? or the tattoos? or that all his videos look dodgy as they're filmed in a car in the carpark?

Google search his name then scroll to the bottom. He has had listings removed.

He was done for having a shotgun at his shop without a licence.
He got pretty paranoid post a robbery where he lost his front teeth, hence his denture. This was in the era when he specialised in buying worn out old perspex Rolex models, putting sapphire glasses on them, then as many diamonds as possible with fake dials and bezels.

You just have to look up the convictions against his family members who are in and out of the trade.

I bought a 31mm YG Datejust off him about six months before he packed it in.

I found him very up front and easy to deal with and he operated from a rented office near Gatwick.

I took the watch into Rolex the very next day for a service, which is my usual practice, and they pronounced the watch 100% legit and original.

He has remade himself a few times after issues. He genuinely seems to be trying to push the legitimate side these days. As far as I know he moved out of the fake dials etc on his last re launch 6-7 years ago.

Still based on his past I wouldn't touch anything he has.

Poor man, surrounded by villainous relatives but with a heart of gold, honest as the day is long, a warm hearted geezer; etc etc.

I loved the manic laughter at the end. I don't think I'll be troubling Paul Thorpe for a watch any time soon.

For the record, yes, the person mentioned in this report is indeed a relation of mine. Not much I can do about that in all fairness.

I don't mind him, some of his stuff is interesting, some less so but his is only one of the watch channels I watch, so I can get a balanced coverage.

We all know by now, making snide and unpleasant comments is one of your favourite past times. The new internet ethos of "be kind" has certainly not registered with you.

I dealt with Paul Thorpe a couple of years ago when I bought my wife a 31mm YG Rolex. We met face to face, he answered every question that I put to him and the price was very reasonable.

I then took the watch into Rolex on the very next day (as is my normal practice) for a full service and the watch was pronounced 100% genuine with no non standard parts fitted as is often the case now a days.

So my experience of the man is good. He sold an honest product at a competitive price.

There was a mention of him on the London watch collectors video where he is doing a charity fund raiser. I’ll post the video below.

His content wasn’t great and lots of hearsay. Plus he is so bloody repetitive and never handled a watch on cam. Bye Paul

What’s he moaning on about? Some kind of youtube conspiracy? Oh well, I won’t miss him. He seemed to produce youtube content about very obvious issues but spun them out into long pointless drawn out videos that I didn’t have time nor inclination to sit through. Just seemed like a wide boy.

For his relaunch, he started off suggesting that they'd be a course on how to be a watch dealer with special content, then backed off, saying that he'd never intended to charge, it wouldn't be exclusive to his patrons and that he was just doing his channel to give back to the community.

Now he's getting spiteful that other channels have more views and chucking his teddy out of the pram; re-uploading old content and complaining when nobody watches it.

His content consisted mainly of monologues about the used Rolex market and how only his buddies could be trusted. Or, it was a complaint about the metropolitan police, or one of his tall tales. It was a watch channel with hardly any watches.

Mind you, one of the few guys currently with a decent haircut......perhaps he should give watches a rest and take up barbering.

I just had a quick look at his "last" video and spotted that he was/is part-sponsored by a local to me company called the Edinburgh Watch Company. Anyone dealt with them by any chance?
