WiFi indoor cameras for elderly relative.

We spend a lot of time caring for my father in law who has Parkinson’s.

He’s struggling more and more and we often get called out when he pushes his emergency button.

So far it’s never been a “real” emergency but the drive to his house is always a bit fraught.

I’m thinking of installing cameras so when we get a button push we can look on our phones to see what the problem is, I’d also be able to talk to him via the camera.

Would need to be Wi-fi and wireless(powered by batteries) to ease installation.

Would probably need to cameras, recommendations welcome.

A friend has Arlo wireless cameras set up that he is happy with. I have been looking at them to supplement the Ring camera that I have for internal use.

If you can avoid having to use cameras with batteries, I would recommend placing a few Yi Pan Cameras around the house.

These are really simply to operate and the APp is fine and simple and has worked fine without any issues for the past year plus.

If required you can announce on them too.

From memory I paid around £20 each for a HD Pan camera.

I also have the Arlo Pro (x3) and these are OK, but the App and cameras have been glitchy and all 3 have been replaced due to issues.

I’ve got one of these, works great, does everything you need in terms of WiFi, two way speech etc. Doesn’t need to be hardwired, you just plug it into a normal electrical socket using a small adaptor.

Try Neos.
£25 and I was a bit sceptical but just put one in my garden Room and am impressed for the money.
Two way audio, geo fencing if required and sends alerts for sound and movement.
Also at no cost records 5 second clips for I think 14 days to the cloud.
Does need pluging in to a usb with a plug coming with it.
Think you would struggle just battery to be honest especially over a period of time.
WiFi eats power.

The Blink system looks quite good but is the stated 2yr battery life a bit optimistic in real life use, checking in regular etc?

We bought one of these to see what the dog got up to (nothing it turns out) when we were out. Plugs into the mains so no faffing about with batteries and allows 2 way speech & access from any phone with the requisite password. About £25 from Amazon.

I've got a couple of Yi Home dome cameras from Amazon. They just need to be plugged in and connected to a WiFi network. Very easy to set up and the one I have at my mum's house for when she is away has motion alerts set up on it.

There's a small monthly fee for cloud storage and I've had them for over a year with no issues at all. pretty decent image quality too

Nest indoor cams are good - you can set them to notify for things like a shout for help too.

I’ve got MooBox cameras internally, charge lasts for almost 3 months. Cheaper rip off of the Arlo really. App and camera works great.

Outside I’ve got some ring battery cameras & whilst more features, I’d have probably have simply done Moobox if I had known at the time
