    New Bond watch from Omega

New Bond filming in London today, someone managed to get a decent shot of Daniel Craig's Omega.

Daniel Craig? Surely not? He's one of my favourite Bonds.

Timothy Dalton has got to be the worst Bond ever, surely?

Pierce Brosnan or Roger Moore, I think Roger wins worst by a neck.

Now you see I grew up with Roger being Bond as I was born in '72 so he'll always be up there with the best for me.

Understood, in my mind I always try to imagine how close to the character in the book the actor plays the role.

It’s a tired old franchise that should be put out to pasture.

I like Craig as Bond. He looks like he could kill you, and not need much of an excuse.

As for the watch, it looks like a different case, although similar to the Seamaster.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

Whilst casting Wisdom was a step too far for some it kind of works. They missed a trick by not resurrecting the 'Carry On' flavour of the Moore era scripts and visual gags though - a missed opportunity. Still they managed to get the two sizes too small suit right.

Craig’s daft Norman Wisdom tailoring is going to age even worse than Rog’s much-derided safari suits.

Nice snide little comment, I suppose despite always being constipated (in your opinion of course) he has had twenty times the amount of women you have even dreamed of.

Dear Mick, this is an online community so yes, we all have opinions. If you really think that having any amount of women equates to personal happiness then that says much about you and not in a good way. If you find the woman who’s right for you then casual promiscuity isn’t something to aspire towards. As for me, I’ve never looked upon women as potential notches on the bedpost. What about you?

    Ditto Sid James.

It’s a film franchise, let’s not overthink this.

  27. #27
The watch looks like a microbrand version of a Seamaster imho. And as for Craig as Bond - well, as others have said he does actually look like he could give someone a good kicking. Pierce Brosnan (and Richard Madden, the bodyguard actor apparently in the running to be Bond) both look like they’d crumple from a well applied Chinese burn!
Can’t understand the negativity towards Craig’s suit and glasses - all a bit retro 60’s Connery isn’t it?

I think it could have worked with Hattie Jacques as Moneypenny, Bernard Bresslaw as M and Charles Hawtrey as Q.

Or you could just not watch them, and let the franchise continue for those that enjoy the films.

    Craig though, Best. Bond. Ever.

Craig, 'Casino Royale' best to date.

Hey, there’s an idea. Thanks for the tip.

In fairness, Daniel Craig was excellent in Our Friends in the North.

That would have been a winner.

I would also have recommend Benny Hill as Blowfeld, Jack Douglas as his lead henchman and Sid James as Felix Leiter

I can just picture Jack Douglas as lead henchman, in his Ippitimus persona, guiding a precision laser weapon.

    Yes indeed,

As regards Bond, Wisdom would have brought far more depth and gravitas to the role

Timex could have got in the act with some product placement too and beaten Omega to it be decades

They've all got their good and bad points. Dalton brought that realism which I think Craig does also with a sprinkle of Connery (as mentioned the slimmer 60's styled suits). He's obviously (Craig) a bit of an amalgamation of all previous bonds being a huge bond fan himself and that comes across via his performance plus the conscious /unconscious rehashing of trends . I always found the later Bronstain films getting very Roger Moore-ish and spoofy. The parody we see with Wisdom /Sid James connection is just visual and I can't unsee the pitkin in him now !

I see they are tackling the mental health slant in Bond25 riffing off Tracy Bonds death from OHMSS and the fallout of bonds downward spiral (again re Vesper Lynd)

Not to mention much more realistic action sequences with Wisdom doing all of the stunt work. In time we might even have had another super-villain, "Mr. Grimsdale".

Or the ever present overlord Jerry Desmonde . He would make a cracking villain. Typically English which we all know make the best villains and he had a rousing presence.

With any luck we'll be rid of The Blond Scouser after this next dismal effort and we can get back to business as usual.

Exactly what I had in mind

I was picturing a final scene with him v the Wisdom bond in the cash room at the Maidenhead branch of NatWest. Having missed with his lethal bowler, Bond manages to rip out the power chord from an oscillating desk fan and...….well you can imagine the rest.

There would be a nice symmetry to this as this location is just round the corner from where Carry On Camping and Doctor were filmed. Sadly the camping shop in the former is now a Sports Direct. The nearby town hall still looks like the hospital from the latter though.
