The Goodwood campsite is adjacent to the circuit and buses run to and from the circuit throughout the day. It is walking distance but you will be walking miles throughout the day. Showers, toilets, pot washing facilities, shop on site and local takeaways deliver. Sainsbury’s is 5 minutes away and nearby pubs good but very busy.

Thursday is fairly quiet and a chance to view all the activity and get an idea of the layout, not all cars will be on site. Friday gets busier but manageable but gets very busy over the weekend.

The super car paddock is worth a visit, best get there early in the morning. Then onto the concourse display to the side of the house. Maclaren are generally at the other side of the house, then the pits.

On the other side of the track, are the manufactures displays. A car key generally gets you into hospitality and free drinks/sit down. Mercedes has a good view of the straight after first bend.

Jaguar, Land Rover and Porsche have good passenger rides (all free), drifting jags, off road land rovers and Cayennes blast round a field. All worth a visit if there for the weekend but expect a good hour in the queue (get there early).

Hill up from the Porsche stand has good views of cars going up but you need to be in front of the house (trackside) to see the displays.

The Rally stage is at the top of the hill, long walk or tractor ride. You also have the opportunity to view cars/drivers following there run up the hill.

Plenty of places to get food and drink but be prepared to spend.

There is a prize giving after the event closes on Sunday, if you hang out you may get a piece of cake, glass of bubbly and invite into the house.

I’m also on the campsite and anticipate been there from Wednesday till Monday.

Only advice I can give is wear comfy shoes and take suncream... there isn't much shade.

If you have a collection of car keys (Merc / BMW /Audi) you can get into manufacturer grandstands to watch the hill climb.

Get there as early as you possibly can - traffic really does build up as it's mostly country lanes around the site.

If you are in a rear wheel drive car, (depending on which car park you are in) don't park at the bottom of the field when the entrance/exit is at the top of the field in case it rains. Don't ask me how I know...

Been a few times now and it is a brilliant event although getting a little 'over-commercialised' these days - but it still has it's charm and is a real treat.

    Enjoy every minute of it.

I’m going on the Friday. First flight in and last flight out of Gatwick. Easy train journey to Chichester and then the feeder bus from the train station. A nice relaxing journey and I can have a few beers during the day if I feel like it.

I see BMW have taken the spot Audi used to have this year. Wonder if that will mean a bigger stand for them.

Viscious rumour of the new defender being in show

New defender is there. @fosgoodwood on Instagram showed it yesterday. They’ve also got the new Aston Martin DBX prototype. That looks really good.

Just back from Goodwood, quite frankly I was blown away by the cars , the spectacle that is Goodwood and the number of people.
Highlights, Seeing Gordon Murray ( 2 feet away) , chatting to Ian Hutchinson, watching the VW electric car smash a 22 hill year record by 6 seconds, only to be beaten by the weather on the final official timed run. The carbon “ top gear” Zonda, and lastly being stuck in a queue of 12 Paganini Zonda’s and Hyraras .

Ps did I mention meeting Giacomo Agostini?

That record annoys the hell out of me! Watched the vow beat it twice in saturday. Why can’t they count, not as though the timing equipment changes overnight. Also frustrates me that modern f1 cars aren’t allowed to participate. Record is a bit of a joke really as any number of cars could beat it. Rant over!

I’m already looking forward to returning next year though.
