Suzuki jimny 2019 is an option
We have a tucsson 2017 for the past 2 years and it has been flawless at 23000 km
Yes, the AMG Line is the body kit and the Premium Plus are the toys - memory seats, sun roof etc.
In laws just bought the XC60 and the memory seats there only need to be pushed once, not held like on the Merc which is a bit lame. Much better infotainment on the Volvo.
Incorrect. We also have night edition and have the folding mirrors and sensors... That night pack just blacks out the shiny bits! And adds some black to the wheels. I will look at the configurator now to try to understand it! Don't want to make that mistake next time around!
Definitely looks like a no cost box on the AMG Line version. Just noticed they have a face-lifted model now with new lights, etc!
This. Ours is the Urban Edition (poverty spec) and doesn’t come with folding mirrors or sensors but I never liked them anyway. It doesn’t have memory seats either but I’ve never had them so don’t miss them.
It’s got most everything else and with no chrome and 20” wheels, it does look good!* Ours is in metallic grey but I’ve seen them in both black and white and they still look good*
*in relative terms, I don’t particularly like SUVs but the wife loves them.
You are all correct. I was confusing night with urban. Can't imagine having a car that size without sensors at the least but ideally 360 cameras. 360 cameras on the Volvos are incredible and better than nothing on our GLC.
We had a Lexus UX as a hire car for a few days and it was very nice indeed.
I'm only planning to be in it for 6 months anyway until the new 3 series Touring start coming through but I will miss parking sensors. Even though the X3 list is much more than the GLC, I'm actually paying quite a bit more per month for the GLC than the X3 hence my comparing the spec. It's more money for less toys in my situation. No drama though, I'm starting to really warm to it and it's a change from what I had before.
Update on this .
The car was returned from Mercedes having been fitted with a tracker type device to monitor the unforeseen occurrences. All went well for a week or two until his CCTV recorded the sunroof opening at 1.40 am on a Thursday morning.
He has had the car for just under 12 months of which 6 have been at the garage whilst he has had a courtesy car well below his spec. The manager of the branch has apparently finally escalated the problem to Germany with a hope to resolve the issue.
Things like that really get on my nerves. If the car is playing up to that extent, they should just replace the car with a new one and send the old one back for testing (or whatever).
Leaving someone (who bought a brand new car) with the same ongoing fault after 12 months is a farce.
Honda CR-V. It never, never fails. Just put fuel in and go. It's large, quiet and has a big boot.
Having said that... ours (the previous model) has the now obsolete 2.2 diesel. Honda has replaced that with the 150 hp, 1500 cc turbo petrol engine from the Civic. After my experience with the Kia Sportage and its 1600cc 136hp engine last week, I'm not completely convinced that a large car should have a lawnmower motor for an engine...
I have driven the hybrid version of the CR-V. A good drive, but not when you're hauling a trailer!

Another happy X1 sport owner. I should have gone for the Auto, apart from that it's been a great family car. I've had Mini/BMWs for my last 5 cars and can't look beyond the brand really. Might go for an X3 next.
I've recently changed to a Touareg. Great to drive (259BHP) and it doesn't feel top-heavy like some SUVs I've driven. Don't know whether it's a plus or not but the Cayenne shares 85% of the parts of a Touareg.

Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
Thought about a MINI Countryman? I have a Cooper S and it’s been great: compact but roomy inside, versatile space, very acceptable performance from the S.
Downsides are:
1. The ride is crashy on the standard runflats but having ditched those it’s much improved;
2. Fuel tank always seems a little small - c. 320 miles is about the realistic maximum
3. It has the typically half-baked phone integration that BMW seem to specialise in
Looked at the 4x4 mini and ruled it out due to the dash and the fact it was the narrowest car we sat in Inc the X1. Our arms were nearly touching even though the X1 is on the Countryman platform.
SWMBO is looking to replace her Prius and has decided on either a Rav 4 or Lexus UX/NX. Why?
Personally I hope she goes for the Lexus NX 200t - with the 2lt Turbo engine, rather than the 300h which has the 2.4 engine.
Whoever does not know how to hit the nail on the head should be asked not to hit it at all.

I’m looking at new small - ish SUV’s now our XC60 is due for changing, and I keep coming back to the Tiguan. All specs get all the safety features as standard (which add quite a bit to the BMW X1 ) and the cabin - whilst not feeling quite as posh as some - has loads of room and a very logical layout. I’ll probably just get the 148hp 2 litre tdi as the XC60 has lots of grunt but I hate how much diesel it guzzles. Plus the boot is a decent square shape, in fact the ‘Match’ spec seems to come with everything I’d need. Quite fancy the R spec but in reality body kits and 20 inch alloys might be vulnerable when bumping through Norfolk country lanes. As an aside, having tested the BMW X1 and X2, can’t understand the point of the X2 at all - I’m 6’2’’ and the low roof makes it so claustrophobic whereas I could wear a top hat in the X1!

I’ve just leased my wife a Tiguan and she absolutely loves it. It’s an automatic 150 4motion so not the top spec but has everything she wants. One of my Directors at work has leased the R line petrol version and have to say it’s a lot of kit for the money. Very impressed.
Currently on tucsson hyundai
Flawless for two years
A couple of ours in western Oz had this crabbing problem last year and the dealers were not very helpful.
VW Golf with engine cut out "characteristics"
Toyota diesels now playing up as well (Oz)
Lexus have CVT gearboxes - christ there is only BMW left (and I'm sure that is only because I haven't heard of a problem vehicle)
I don't know what I'm going to venture into when I replace my lexus. Sure as hell it's going to be a demostrator though.
Please let us know what you decide on Oaky.

I’ve had a Touareg 3.0Tdi R-Line Plus for the past two years from new. It has been 100% faultless in the 20,000 miles I’ve done in it.
Very well built and capable, but thirsty. The real world mpg (appx 23) is the only real downside.
It goes in a couple of weeks to be replaced by a GLC Coupe 300d AMG Premium Plus. We’ll see if that does as well.
So clever my foot fell off.
Our GLC220d is just under 12 months old and returns an average of 45mpg over the last 15,000 miles.
It was in yesterday for a new driver’s window switch which broke a couple of weeks ago. Other than that, it’s been faultless so far.
Same car for me, my lease goes back in March, can’t fault the car one bit, never had one issue.
Did you get a decent deal on the GLC?
Really struggling to get a decent deal at the moment.

There’s a reason for that matey (if you’re talking leasing anyway).
I’ve taken this from the top gear site
‘It battles (deep breath) the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, BMW X3, Audi Q5, Porsche Macan, Lexus NX and Land Rover Discovery Sport.’ You can add the Velar and a couple of offerings from Volvo to this and all, without exception, have better projected residuals.
Not saying the Merc is a bad car, look at the testimony above, but maybe a bit tired looking and certainly not as cool and it’s style that drives this segment.
Also, consider that the Tesla (capital value double some of the above) will be available from April at only maybe one or two hundred pounds more a month via a salsac lease due to changes in the BiK treatment...

I went for the GLC coupe - I know it isn’t quite as practical, but it’s s lot better looking and the spec is high - updated interior is very nice indeed and the tech is impressive.
The 300d is pretty quick and not too thirsty either.
I tried to get an XC60 T8, but there’s none available. Stelvio just doesn’t feel premium- I’ve driven the 280, Audi a bit bland and there are so many of them about, considered Velar but I have huge concerns over reliability, Discovery Sports are crap in pretty much every way in my view. Apart from the badge they have little to recommend them. F-Pace ok, but a bit old tech now. BMW just leave me cold, and while the Lexus is nice it’s rather old hybrid tech.
All in my opinion of course. And besides, I’ve had almost all the brands above and fancy a bit of a change.
Oh, and I got 9+23, 10k, fully maintained for £443 per month.

Skoda Karoq or the Kodiak if you want a bigger'un.
I do like the glc a lot but the boot isn't amazing and when I see an X3 I just know it's better to drive although glc has the better interior. Can't have everything I guess. Can get a karoq for the same price as a Kodiak but to get a karoq with 360 cameras you need to pay another 1.2k and wait for a factory order. We went for a 3 gear old glc in the end and don't regret it.
My sister in law has a 2007 honda civic and she can fit more in than us. GLC 500 Vs Civic 485 but hers is a lot more usable. Seats down is a very different sorry but for day to day absolutely no chance. We can fit her buddy and that's it. In the civic the buggy is low down and far in so lots more space for extras after.
The X3 is quite a bit bigger. I've been running a 2019 GLC 220d (pre facelift) for 4 months. I came out of a 2018 X3. The GLC is not a bad car. It's certainly more handsome to look at than the X3 and the reversing camera is better. In every other area, the X3 is miles ahead of the GLC. I'll be back to BMW next time.
I'd agree with a Karoq or Kodiaq if you want something bigger. I have the 190PS Sportline 4x4 DSG Karoq at the moment and it drives great with loads of kit, but if you want something a bit more premium, the GLA / Q3 or GLB when it comes out soon would be great :)
At the moment it's coming down to a choice between the AMG300D GLC or another E-pace, probably 240D. The only other thing I want to see is an Evoque with only the upper touch screen leaving the A/C contras etc on switches. Also might depend on trade in prices, they can vary a lot!
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

boots are the same size
You have experience in both cars, they don't. I'd just ignore it. Pointless. It's like arguing over how many mm a watch is. Yes something might be 42mm but it's entirely normal and possible that the same watch could wear more like a 39mm or 40mm. You can't just go on the car website and bark out specs, it's silly.
As mentioned I also have a glc and sure with seats down the boot is great but as a normal boot it's pathetic considering the size of the car.
