He was 22 and wearing £1million worth of watch? Frankly, he had it coming.

Yes I saw that too. Not sure what is more shocking, that he is 22 or that something that ugly can be worth so much.
He was a kid wearing a £1million wristwatch in a tourist hot spot. He got mugged. Quelle surprise.
With age comes experience and a sense of responsibility that might have suggested walking around a tourist town flaunting a £1million wrist watch wasn't a very good idea.
What I am not saying is that anyone deserves to be mugged, but, you know, sometimes people don't help themselves do they?
Stupid is stupid regardless of age... he may have wised up with some years but he may well just have become a more experienced silly person

How on earth is a holiday resort pickpocket going to move that on? Then again, if the pickpocket could identify it as a RM and not something out of a Kinder egg then maybe he has rather good connections.
I'll guess the pickpocket will get £1k for it and sell it on to a senior criminal who'll either keep it or sell it on to someone higher up the food chain. The more change of hands, the greater the risk of being caught. I doubt anyone will pay more than £100k for it.

I was thinking this but I guess you could say the same about million pound paintings that get stolen. There’s a buyer there somewhere I’m sure, probably some sort of big cheese criminal who runs the island’s drug supply or something.
The thing is being a complex watch it’s pretty useless to own though, it’s effectively dead money for whoever buys it surely. Can’t exactly send it in for service or repair can they. It’s not like a Rolex or something where he could take it to a no questions asked repairer.
Maybe the guy is so rich that was his beater watch so he doesn't really care..

Proves that money cant buy taste.
I'm dissapointed that a £1m watch only has 70hrs power reserve.
Should have been wearing a Credor!
I guess the guy thought that compared to Azerbaijan, Ibiza would be safe!
I get what you're saying, of course.
You're applying a level of judgement based on the value of the watch though.
Pure speculation, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn that other factors picked him out as a 'mark', and the value of the watch they managed to snatch from him was a surprise even to them.

Strange news... In that part of Ibiza, in daylight? Doubt it. And hey, I have been robbed in Ibiza: by night, while I was sleeping. 5 watches, a Breitling, a Panerai, a Rolex, a Eterna, a Baume Mercier Ouch!

Coming from the daily reich I'm suprised they haven't insinuated the thief was a single mother on universal credit or Jeremy Corbin, these nasty scare stories must have their readership too scared to go to m+s to do their weekly shop
I think the thief probably threw the watch in a bin when he realised it wasn't a G-Shock.
Bit harsh saying he had it coming- it’s not as if he was at the Rio carnival staying in a drug ridden favela....Ibiza town marina is full of Russian oligarchs yachts etc and the ultra rich- certainly not a place most would worry about wearing any watch....
Insurance scam
