    Dress watch options

I have a Grand Seiko Sports watch and will shortly be picking up a white dialled Rolex OP 36mm. To round my small collection off I would like to get a nice dress watch. Any suggestions based on the criteria below that is not a Nomos?

    Budget: £4k
    Size: 34-38mm
    No date
Not too vintage, something fairly robust with a Sapphire Crystal.
I would quite like gold but not a deal breaker.
Manual wind would be nice, but not essential.

Wishing you all a nice weekend.

A JLC Reverso could be an option? A variety of sizes and comes in manual wind.

Omega Globemaster, should be doable with a bit of haggling

I think for a real dress watch you often have to dig into vintage to find the true classics.
Most watch movements were pretty robust and a lot of dress was manual wind so reducing risk of part failure. I suppose the issue is modern dress style either appears a lot under a £1000 from secondary brands or plus 10k from the traditional houses and some are overly large. Vintage dress is probably the best value you can buy right now compared to vintage chrono’s for instance.
If you want modern I feel you don’t need look much further than JLC. Though I’ve heard them described as soft as butter. My 60’s Connie was worn on my wrist pounding the roads on a Boris Bike rain and shine. It came out unscathed.
To me it’s vintage Omega 550 movements , Longine ( I believe the most beautiful dress watches ) .a look at Longine and you can see their quality was above Omega and Rolex in the 50’s early 60’s. IWC or maybe if you do want to go up to 4k AP or VC though I suspect they will be more 33-34mm

For that money I'd be looking at:
A Cartier tank of some sort
A 2nd hand Rolex Cellini of some sort.
Piaget do some nice dress watches.
If you like a bit of 'bling' bvlgari perhaps?

Chrono24 has a number of 'big 3' dress watches for around your budget in the UK but you'd have more choice adding a few grand

Personally I'd be saving for something iconic in this area
I love the look of this but the bracelet is too small for my wrist (as it 34mm) and it blows the budget - a lot - but I'd wait a year or two to save for it or something like it.

I think you are right, I need to save a bit longer and be patient. The ultimate dress watch for me is the Lange Saxonia but I don’t know if I can bring myself to spend that much. I probably wait to see what comes out next year at Basel/SIHH.

As echoed further up the chain I would be doing this: https://www.watchfinder.co.uk/Jaeger...65/item/129401

You'll probably be able to find it cheaper, or go for the black dial variant which looks rather marvellous on a honey strap. Watchfinder have had this watch hanging around for I imagine over a year so I'll bet you could make them an offer.
