    Sunspel Riviera Polo advice

I know this is a bit Mumsnet but I also know there are some on here who like their clobber so why not ask.

I've just received two new Sunspel Riviera polo shirts – one M and one L – and have a question about shrinkage after washing.

Fresh out of the box, the M fits pretty much spot on and the L is just a bit roomier and longer than I'd like. So, assuming I do my usual quick wash at 30º with eco liquid, will they shrink madly?

The weave is quite open and looks like it might tighten up a bit. I couldn't find anything on google so seek the experiences of the sartorially-minded among us before I decide whether to keep or return.

    Cheers

That will ruin it for me then. Maybe I'll try the L on a warmer wash?

Wash it cold and as less as poss

They fade quick sadly (I own about 6 of them)

Shame as fresh out the pack they are amazing!!!!!!!!!

PS - find they get back to original size (maybe as I wash cold rather then warm)

My experience with more recent (non cellular) Sunspel is that it stays pretty true to size for a couple of dozen washes but then begins to lose shape. It’s the price to pay for that soft feel.

Agree on the dye fading but only seems to be some colours in my experience. Navy is worst for it.

The Smedley Sea Island polos fit and wash a lot better in my experience. Always on offer if you live close enough to have a ride out into the country to visit the factory shop too.

It was Mr Porter where I got the Riviera polos from but they'll be going back on Monday anyway because Sunspel itself is having a sale and the polos were only £42 to Mr Porter's £63.

I've just bought the same Riviera and an organic cotton polo

My experience of the Riveria polos was not good. I’m a medium, bought a medium. After a few washes they were a good 2” shorter, and remarkably at least 2” wider. So now they fit like a bag. First and last Sunspel purchase. I’m sure they make other garments which are good, but those have put me off.

My experience is exactly the same- t-shirts too end up looking like crop tops after a while!
