Thread: Newmark 71 Launch

I am STILL struggling with deciding which colour to get. I love the all blue but really like the silver with a contrasting bezel. I really should have bought two...

I see the time to stop dithering is nearly upon us, with the colour choice survey about to go out.

I’m still loving the blue/blue but that mock up of the blue/silver bezel has got me ready to part with just a little bit more cash. Thanks for taking the time to do it.

    I’m getting all excited again....

I think the truth is whatever choice you go for you’re getting a treasure of a watch

Same here but 'no date'. I was going to go for the silver with a blue bezel but the fear of changing the bezel myself or getting someone local to do it put me off. Cowardly?
    Yes.

    As we’re sharing....

I went for Blue ND 60. I also ordered the steel 12h bezel to switch things about a bit.

This is what I'm hoping mine look like ('scuse the low-res, poorly cut out dials)

Three watches for the price of one

I am going for the same except one will be a 12 hour bezel for the added "complication"

Boring? Nope. I’ve gone for the black, no date, 60 min bezel. Now that is boring ;-)

I think it looks fantastic in that classic combination, and am astonished that so few people have gone for it. You might find that it's a real rarity! (If it had come on an Oyster bracelet, I would have probably have got one in that combination myself)

Just submitted mine, was all set to go blue ND 60 however I've gone with the black instead.

    Yehp.

    It’s excellent.

I’m highly impressed with the movement too. Runs at + 0.1 secs per day on the wrist, and + 3.5 secs per day left off the wrist dial up.

Still waiting for the DHL shipping notice over here in the States. I'm sure it will show up sometime in the next couple of weeks, or should I say fortnight?

Arrived today, black, 60min bezel with date.

First impressions are very good, case is not too thick, nice size and the bracelet is pretty comfortable.

These photos are sharpening my appetite - there's a blue non-date out there somewhere with my name on it, and I am very much looking forward to getting my mitts on it.

My black no-date arrived this morning, bracelet now sized and on the wrist.

Look and wears great, no time to take a decent 'photo in the available light I had however I'll post a 'pic when I get the chance.

Ha! Delivered while I was at work. Result! First impressions are that it’s very high quality, I love the bracelet and it’s a perfect size. Well done Ewan, another blindingly good watch.

My brother’s 71 arrived Friday. Still waiting on mine, but I ordered a couple of extras which seem to be holding things up!

It looks great in the flesh (based on my limited view of my brothers) but reserving final judgement as we ordered slightly different variants.

It’s harder waiting, knowing that they ve started to ship, but it will be along shortly.

I’m away with work and the post office card has dropped though the letterbox

My good lady is collecting it tomorrow from the post office, I will have to talk my way through the local customs check!

I can’t wait to see the watch, many thanks to those who have posted pictures

And just got the DHL notice. Should have it here in CT on Thursday.

  33. #133
Mine arrived yesterday but I had no time to size it so just looked at it then put it away. This morning I adjusted the bracelet, mighty impressed that it's all screws and none of them done up murderously tight and been wearing it since. It's jolly comfortable... well it is once you take the plastic off the back that was grabbing the few hairs on my wrist, I was blaming the watch!

I'll be honest: I wasn't expecting 'great' things, I have a couple of other micro-brands which are fine but not superb but this really is. This feels properly 'finished' with no sharp edges on the case or bracelet. I think Ewan has done a superb job and everyone involved should give themselves a mighty pat on the back.

Same here. When they’ve been delivered to Ewan I’m expecting an invoice to pay for those extras before they and the watch(es) are despatched.

Me too! I know from Ewan’s last email that it’s been a horrible time for him and his family, so I’m more than ok to wait. It sounds like it’s going to be worth it when we do get our hands on them.

Blue date #27 all sized and ready for use.

Really impressed with the quality of the bracelet - thought the links would have been solid - really pleased to see how articulated it is and the clasp is nice and secure.

Seems to punch well above its price - great work Ewan

    Cracking lume too

Have you tried yet? I'll be interested to know this before I attempt it. I was hoping it was a simple 'pop-off'.

    Its nothing like a rolex…

Very tight tolerances so you can't really get a blade between the gap. I have sent Ewan a message, but I think it might be a case of sending it off which rather defeats the reason that I bought multiple bezels.

Word of warning. Use lots of electrical tape if you try. The steel seems very soft.

Damn! I was hoping it was going to be easy. That's a waste of two bezels then

Seems to be my take on it. I need to send a watch back for additional regulation, so will send the newmark at the same time to get the blue bezel fitted. I wouldn't have orded spares if I knew it meant sending it off every time.

As disappointing as it is that the bezels are not easily changeable, I must say this is a cracking watch. Compared to other micro brands in this price range, it is punching well above its weight. Dare I say it, but it leaves our hosts in the dust. The bracelet is phenominal. I had a lot of reservations, but having got my hands on it, I'll no longer be using the original bond SMP bracelet as the benchmark for comfort. That bracket was great, this is just amazing. It is a retro look for sure, but wow, it is comfortable and depute my concerns, not a single pulled hair. The clasp is rugged, with push button release coupled with a flip lock, and it also has 6 micro adjustments. It's larger tha say a 5 digit rolex clasp, but no large enough to be a problem.
