I agree re sizing. Of mine, only the Bedale is made in England and that's a roomy 42".
The other 3 aren't made in the UK according to articles I've read that've said if it doesn't say made in England, they're not.
The Duke is slimfit XL, International is a slimfit L and the Ashby is an L.

The other thing to bear in mind, particularly with the traditional Barbours, is the infamously short sleeves.

The factory will lengthen these for you (and do a good job, I've had mine done), but anyone lanky really needs to try one on before buying.

I've got a Barbour wax jacket and while I like the look, I have to say it's damn cold in the winter, I really have to layer up. I'd be hesitant about buying one again.

It's a jacket, not a coat. Have you got the zip-in liner for it? Mine can take two options - a thinner padded one, or a thick fleecey one.

(although I suspect this perhaps hasn't been the case for at least a decade).
Years ago I worked in the Tower Records store in Piccadilly Circus. Every so often you'd get a whiff of Barbour wax & look up to see a group of Italian students in brand new, still with the packing creases, Barbours they'd just bought in Lilywhites across the road.

The Duke has a thick quilted lining and i only wear one layer under it, usually a breathable tee shirt, in any weather.

I honestly didn't know there was a difference between a jacket and coat :D No mine doesn't have a zip in liner unfortunately, not sure what model it is. Looking online it seems I bought one on the much thinner side

Just wear a thin fleece or gilet under it then.

After hearing about the infamous sizing I tried several on and was an XL in the Ashby and an XXL in the Duke. They didn’t have the sand coloured one in the store I tried them on in so hopefully I like the colour !!!

Lilywhites - what a shop that used to be. The sort of place that Blashford-Snell would go to to equip an expedition now transformed into a dystopian sh;thole. I still have a pith helmet I bought there years ago (not the one in my avatar) - I bought it on a friday for a fancy dress party intending to take it back and chop it in the following monday for some running gear but never quite got around to going back.
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

Agree completely. Have a Barbour baseball cap (same material as jacket). Beaufort poacher pocket ideal for carrying lead.

    Beaufort

Have a couple of these there great
Fleecy lining a must in winter
As said need some layers in winter
    Also non breathable
But they look better the more you use them

Did you know there was a factory outlet shop ?
It’s in South Shields ( next door to factory)
You can get seconds for about a ton
You would be hard pushed to see the fault usually something like stitching gone off square
Any faults are marked so you can tell
You can even ring them give them your size and style and ask if they have them in
I’m sure they do mail order too
Obviously sell all of the non seconds too
Bear in mind if you are an unpopular size
Then they don’t make many so don’t make many mistakes
    So very few seconds
    If your a normal day 42 - 46 chest there’s loads
Also sell shirts boots shoes etc
Another thought for winter dog walking
Is a Barbour tweed shooting coat
Fully water proof and very toasty

That's what I thought. Doesn't 'scan' well, though, and the lack of rhyme or accentual-syllabic meter gave me pause...

Although one has to admire the positively Shakespearean epigrammatic couplet:

Is a Barbour tweed shooting coat
Fully water proof and very toasty
