Puppy walking is taking over the days now and I need a decent wax jacket. My North Face isn’t waterproof and I need something lightweight, waterproof and preferable with an inside pocket for keys.
I like the Barbour Dunstall but the recent sales have wiped most places out of stock.
Can anyone recommend a lightweight waterproof waxed jacket by either Barbour or Belstaff for around £250 please?

Thanks for the advice on those. The only issue is the puppy is currently going through his teething and jumping phase and I’m guessing anything other then a wax jacket is likely to get ripped / torn (as my non-waxed Barbour coat found out last week).
What kind of pup have you got?

Barbour will repair their jackets I had a 30 year old wax jacket repaired and rewaxed and its like new.
Walking the dog over many years I've worn Belstaff, Barbour and Drizabone, and rate them as follows
1) Drizabone
2) Barbour
3) Belstaff

Barbour Beaufort with optional detachable hood and zip in/out liner.
As already mentioned it can be repaired and re waxed by Barbour.
I don’t get waxed cotton as I had a Belstaff in the 80s and it was crap then, Goretex all the way unless you need it for Twickenham.
I don't have a canine, but I do ride a Vespa in all weathers and wouldn't be without my Beaufort, which I re-wax with Barbour thornproof dressing; a bit of a faff but takes about 20 minutes once a year so worth it in my view.
Of the 5 wax jackets I've got, a Barbour Duke which is the warmest jacket I've ever had and great for walking our boy and
a Bedale which is equally suited to walking.
The other 3 are an International, an Ashby and a Belstaff.They're great jackets but not dog-walker great.
Our boy also has his own Barbour wax jacket. The pic was taken when it was new 5 years ago, i doesn't look new anymore

I have Haglofs, Berghaus and Tog for wet weather dog walking but if its dry, Barbour wax is best.
The only time I've had a tear was getting over a gate and that was easily repaired with a patch.
I've got a Rab paclite that I've had since 2003 and goes in a bum bag.
It was made in Sheffield and will probably last forever.

Rab 3 layer jacket and trousers for me, along with a baseball cap to throw the 'hood-drips' off my face.
The advantage of the 'technical' walking stuff over a wax jacket (for me) is that it dries VERY quickly, which is really useful when you get wet twice a day. They are also very easy to wash, so regular coatings of mud/dog spit can be cleaned away before it starts to get out of hand.
For dog walking you can't beat a Barbour Game Fair, walked both my German Shepherds for years wearing it. Its never leaked on rewaxed it once in 23 years! Big pouch for hat, dog biscuits and poo bags!
Trad Barbour Beadle/Beaufort/Border, all day long and twice on Sundays.
It's the iconic wax jacket for a reason.
I tend to agree, I've had my Border since the nineteen eighties, I wax it most years but occasionally I send it back to them to do if I'm feeling lazy and it always comes back looking great and in all that time it's been back one for repairs to some wear on the cuffs ... I use it for everything from walking to fly fishing and it has never ever let me down.
I spent a complete day in the pouring rain in the middle of Bewl water once and got soaked in it though, but that was because I'd forgotten a scarf and the rain was going down my neck all day, ain't fishing great !...
I have a Barbour Corbridge and it's excellent!! Loads of pockets and has a stowed hood in the collar. Keeps me warm in the Winter too, without being too thick. The sizing seems a little small compared to my quilted Barbour jacket which is an ample Medium, while the Corbridge is just OK as a Large :)
Concur with a Barbour Beaufort. Had mine four years (Cocker walking) and it's been fantastic. Watch out for sizing though - best try before you buy.
I’ve had a Barbour International for 14 years (for around town), a Beaufort (7 years) for dog walking and an Arctyrex for in the mountains.
Goretex is fantastic but a waxed jacket is better suited to walking dogs. I would suggest a Barbour without any sort of insulation or fixed liner as they can get warm. A removable liner or a fleece is ideal for winter months.
I re-proof my Barbour every 1-2 years with their thornproof dressing. A Barbour will age well but a technical Goretex jacket will soon look tired after a few years of dogs jumping up with muddy paws or brushing against thorn hedges when out over the fields.
I got one of the below for dog walking as all my boys are over 120lbs, and on the odd occasions they jump up they tend rip whatever jacket I'm wearing with their dew claws. I don't mind on a £25 jacket but would be rather peeved on a £100+ jacket.

Barbour for me. I have a Sapper and International. The Sapper is quilted and very warm, the International is best for warmer wet weather. Reproof them every couple of years and they'll last a lifetime. 👍

Fantastic, thanks, I used Outdoor & Country on several occasions before, wasn’t quite sure about Country Attire 'cos their address resolves to an industrial estate and I couldn’t find their office/warehouse front.

Are they quite heavy as I do find I get a bit warm in some jackets?
I have one that has been repaired a number of times. Whatever it is, it is not like new. I think it has doubled in weight over time with the patches and re-enforcements that they've added. :)

I was overstating the case but they do a good job of patching/ repairing and make a good useable wax jacket waterproof. I should have got it repaired/ rewaxed earlier. It is good in this day and age that jacket life can be extended with some good repair work.

Pristine ones are strictly for arrivistes.

Re sand coloured Ashby, I bought one off a TZUK member a couple of weeks ago. Lightweight and ideal in this weather but i wouldn't say so for dog walking.

I have one of these and they are excellent. Warm enough for me without the detachable liner, only improvement I could think of would be to make the detachable hood attach via a zip rather than press studs.

I've got a dark blue Duke, it's ideal for dog walking in the winter.
The thick quilted lining makes sure cold winds aren't a problem.

Initial thoughts when I tried it on in HofF yesterday were that I was going to be too warm in it. However, I hadn’t appreciated that I’d likely be wearing it on a freezing November morning with the rain lashing down!
The Beaufort is my go to dog walking jacket. You're better off with a hat than the press stud hood but the huge poaching pocket is fantastic for hats, gloves, dog leads etc.
I've had mine 5 years and reckon it'll outlive me.
Did you get your normal size or have to go one size up seeing as its a tailored fit?
I got a wax hood for a waterproof barbour jacket but it fits my Bedale, trouble is the hood's blue and the Bedale is green.
It's more suited to dog walking than my other wax jackets.

If going for a Barbour, try it on first, if you can.
I have 3 different jackets - one is XXL, one is M, and the zip-in liner that fits both is L.
The XXL is made in England, the other two don't say.
