After a period of people selling old socks, boxers and out of date food the watches have finally come out.

I wouldn't - you will either end up disappointed or poor.

The Morphy Richards smoothing iron looks quite tempting. They don't appear that often on

Numbers viewing is typically 40/50 at one time. A month ago it was a quarter of that. Consumer confidence 

I was delighted to get a cracking Heuer Autavia from Steve Harris from SC. Not everyone's cup of tea and at just under 7K not a watch to be bought on a whim.

I was sorely tempted by the Zodiac Gulf GMT that was snapped up almost as soon as it was listed.

The lamp-base is pretty special too. Legend has it every charity shop in his home town rejected it

I’m on a strict one in one out policy but there is a bargain Victoria Beckham handbag I have my eye on.

To be honest I thought I would blast by with some short sentence replies of “yeah looks great”, “perfect !” And then I found the forum isn’t all about watches, which to be fair I’m kind of new at and really just wanted to check out what’s for sale, and you guys / girls are interesting. It’s not just all about watches and it’s really fun, plus everyone seems really nice so my 2 or 3 word replies have turned into actual real life replies which I can relate too, plus actively comment on threads which interest me and hopefully help someone in the process with my pearls of wisdom on numerous topics.

I noticed an increase in nice watches on SC of late but an eye watering tax bill due next month has cooled my jets. I wonder if impending tax bills have anything to do with the apparent up swing on SC?

Certainly been some pieces that have peeked my interest recently, if I wasn't indecisive.

I do not think it is fully about pricing tbh.
There are some forum darlings (in particular Rolex) where they sell almost immediately as long as pricing is close to the right ballpark.
Everything else, in particular if it is 42mm+, can hang around even if it is priced low (Trade buying price).

After a few eBay purchases, I’m also looking forward to gaining access!

However, I have to be totally honest and say this forum has been a revelation to me. I’ve learnt a whole lot about watches I’m interested in (that’s pretty much all of them!) just from browsing.

SC sounds like a very ‘interesting’ and potentially expensive place!

There certainly are some amazing fashion watches there just now

There’s been a flurry of very nice Datejusts on SC of late, amongst others. Good to see.

Yes, DateJusts and some good Grand Seikos. Although perhaps that just reflects my own interests.

I’ve noticed that, plus if you put out a WTB the quality also appears

Some stunning watches on there recently. None that I want to buy sadly! Anyone with a Royal Oak wanting to sell??

Is it me or is that one watch you never see on SC?

Either we don’t have any AP owners on here or it’s just a watch that people buy to actually keep!

I'm kind of glad I can't see, no temptation then

Though I do have a few to sell, some of my collection is seeing no wrist time at all now.

    Sales Corner

I wonder if people feel it’s got a bit ‘top of the market’... I’d say it was true for collectible cars, which is a similar audience...

I’d certainly be very happy to sell a green ceramic Sub for £11k, for example... or an ‘old movement’ BLNR for £12k...

^ those are Chrono24 prices, not having a go at anyone for their particular listings...

ETA: it’s not like bubbles haven’t burst before... particularly with modern Rolex sports watches (Explorer 36mm, Milgauss GV...)
