I actually felt for Spurs today. I remember the day Eduardo got his leg destroyed and how the team struggled in the match.

But I'll not complain if we finish 3pts above come may.

That's shocking from Marc Albrighton. Hes just thrown the game away with a moment of selfish idiocy.

Just goes to show that actually Pep is underperforming vs Klopp as Man City won by a whisker last year despite having a much better team than Liverpool and this year are 5 points behind already and again the City team is much better than Liverpool.

If you think about it, if you had to pick a Premier League First XI it would basically be the Man City team with Kane and Aubameyang instead of Aguero and Jesus and Robertson instead of Kyle Walker. Mane is quality but doesn't get in ahead of DeBruyne and Salah misses too many chances to displace Kane and Aubameyang. So really City should win the league at a canter as a 'par performance'.

    😂😂😂😂
    Aubameyang instead of Aguero ??
Robertson is a left back , Walker a RB .
I’d have Van Dijk as Laporte s understudy . I can’t have Robertson because I can’t think of a bigger p***k in the game .
Oh, except for the snide , backstabbing mercenary that is Milner .
We do have the best first eleven , of that I have no issues but last year and this we have been decimated by injuries to key men .

Aguero, painful as it is to say it, is probably the best PL striker of the last decade at least. Season after season he knocks them in.

Cant argue with that....... His conversion rate must be 2nd to none.

I meant on current form/ability. Not denying he has been amazing but he has declined a bit and this has coincided with other strikers coming into the picture. Aubameyang is statistically the best converting PL striker over the past 12 months in terms of creating points for his team. Just ahead of Kane.

BTW Aguero is ranked 4th all time Premier League Striker using a series of metrics that are often used by professional traders and which determine impact and subsequent points gain for a team. Top 3 in reverse order are:

    3rd - Eric Cantona
    2nd - Alan Shearer
    1st - Thierry Henry

Current form Kane would struggle to get picked for Accrington Stanley.

    Agree on Aguero being amazing.

Auba has the talent not sure he has the team or manager to support it.

To suggest Van Dijk is not going to waltz into anyone's first 11 suggests a certain degree of bias.

TAA & Robertson are ahead of Zinchenko, Walker Danilo etc it's a tough call on Mendy I suppose.

Well if Aguero is declining , he must’ve been one hell of a player before . Isn’t he still the PL s highest scorer this season ?
    I didn’t mean VVD as a sub, I meant alongside Laporte .

Goals scored as the only metric not an elegant way of making a comparison - rather it is about net impact of that individual on the team overall. For example if you took Sheff Utd's Billy Sharp and put him in the Man City team and then took Aguero and put him in the Sheff Utd team then Billy Sharp would score more goals for City than Aguero would for Sheff Utd but clearly Aguero is the better player.

Salah misses too many chances ??? He's been top scorer the last 2 seasons scoring 32 and 22 and is a winger.

As for the rest VVD, Robertson and Trent would start with Laporte.

Kane wouldnt get in a city or Liverpool side.

Up front would be aguero and bameyang.

Man City played 7 (13%) more games than Liverpool last season apparently. Liverpool went out at the first hurdle in both the FA and League Cups which gave them a fair amount of rest and recuperation time. Arguably Man City's best player, De Bruyne, was out most of the season, wasn't he?

I think Liverpool have been lucky injury wise (key players, anyway) which has enabled them to play a pretty consistent team. (R5 was giving the stats the other week for just how few games Mane, Firmino and Salah have missed in the last 2/3 years, for example.) Man City rotate, through choice as well as injury, and that doesn't always pay off.

What Liverpool have done in recent times I think is remarkable. 2 champs league finals and so close to winning the prem last year. I still can't see them doing it this year unfortunately.

Klopp has massively over delivered vs the quality at his disposal. He is an awesome manager and probably the best in world football compared to what a 'par score' is. I also think Eddie Howe is nearly as amazing vs par performance. Worst would be Silva at Everton

Long way to go. If you remember last season, City lost to Newcastle and did well against all the top teams. Liverpool had a similar lead last season and City overtook them, yet when City were just one point clear, Liverpool couldn't come back at them because City kept winning.

I hope Liverpool do win the Premier League and I'm an Everton supporter.

Talking about Everton, what the hell is zonal marking. The corner of the 6 yard box poses no threat and has never scored a goal, yet the big number 9 from the opposition is a different proposition. Mark the bloody man and stop standing in fresh air watching the goals go in.

We are shit and Marco's days are numbered - at this rate we will be needing Big Sam again 😪😪

Is Marco Silva still using zonal marking at corners and set pieces? He used zonal marking when he was manager of Hull City in the Prem, it didn't work then and looks as if it still isn't working.
Marco Silva promises a great deal as a manager but I believe he is more suited to a European style of play, he would do better in Spain/Portugal or German leagues.

Yes he is still using zonal marking and the pundits last night said if it ain't working - drop it. I remember Arséne Wenger using it at Arsenal and no one could understand why he was doing it.

Now a defender on each post at corners and free kicks I fully support. I remember watching Everton winning the league in the 80s and there was always two men on the line and they stopped loads of goals.

It's that time of year when clubs at the bottom have to make a decision and Everton are currently 4th from bottom. I don't see any improvement unless things change, we are just leaking goals.

Yea but beating Watford and a 2nd rate Turkish team's B team isn't the same as winning as the Etihad.

Agreed, but given the poor start we had to the PL season 3 back to back wins against any teams are very welcome.

I have to say how impressed I was by Chelsea today. For a team in transition and shorn of a true world class player like they had in Hazard they are playing like a team, the sum being greater than the parts and I think Frank is doing an excellent job there

Just back from the match and Wolves well deserved their win. Two clear cut chances in the first half should have put them two up at half time. Bit gutted but a long way to go.

Being a blue living in Liverpool isn't always the easiest. There is definitely a kind of mass hysteria going on in terms of LFC's belief that they are the best team in the world. They are bloody good but there is a long way to go and there will be lots of ups and downs between now and May. They are also having a lot of luck with decisions and no major injuries. That could change.

I wanted us to win today as always, but more so particularly today. A lady (that has been a blue since being a young child) that sits next to us at the match and has done since we moved from Maine Road hasn't been for a while. She was there today as part of her 'bucket list' as she has a terminal illness and will not make another match. She came to say goodbye and I can tell you the match came a very poor second to that. She was a nurse at Christies in Manchester and spent her whole professional life looking after others. Life can be cruel...… The fella that sits behind us also has only a few months left. You can always find humour in any tragedy though. Whilst we were all talking and sharing stories one of the gang pipes up..... "any chance of your derby tickets for United? You won't be coming". It cracked everyone up including the two that are very ill....
