What do you consider Modern?
I mostly agree BTW.
Modern music. You’re doing it wrong.
Fas est ab hoste doceri
Yes, out and about it all seems to be R&B (the modern interpretation) soul (ditto) / X Factor style music. I find much of my new music via 6music and in particular Stuart Maconie. Not everything appeals and some of it is carp but I've discovered some real pearls from folk and jazz to the melting pot where they all combine, prog.
My dentist asked me what I wanted to listen to during a recent filling so I had the work done listening to the album 'Still Life' by Van Der Graaf Generator a firm favourite though I'm not sure the dentist or nurse knew what to make of it.

I'm partial to a it of drum n' bass, myself.
I remember when chicken tasted like chicken.
My favourite Be Bop Deluxe album
Aside from Bowie my interest waned in the early 80's
For me the 70's was the most interesting and diverse period.
Radio 1 is like some kind of torture to my ears these days and though I do listen to Radio 2 I often have to flip it on to Radio 4 to escape some of the more modern stuff on there.
Sir,
Let me buy you a drink.
I thought it was just me.
The whingy high pitched whining and sustained notes (simply because they can) make me cringe.
Sam Smith...ughhhhhhhhhhh...and the likes.
Streets....there are loads.
Bed wetters music.
Gonna stop now...I can feel my heart rate & BP rising...
Modern music is shite - apart from....... First Aid Kit.
I’ve ended up buying the albums

Ok…. You miserable old bastards
I suspect you’ll hate the lot…. But. I’ll share ome of the stuff I’ve really enjoyed in the last few years
I don’t subscribe to this whole ‘music ain’t what it used to be’ or ‘it’s not original’
Music evolution tends to be iterative and is influenced by what people have heard…. You get the odd genre hop, but, in the main, there many similarities from one decade to the next…
Kansai Washington - a fresh jazz approach

I heard this on 6music a few weeks ago and like it so much I bought the album:
Or some very fine new jazz, I'm trying to figure out how to get up to Manchester to see this lot live later in the year:
The whole album is on Prime music if you have that.
I did read that modern shite gets straight into the vocals, as yer average millennial hasn't the time for an intro.
This is why the likes of Bowie's "sound & vision" is resigned to the archives for evermore.
What they would make of a 20 minute "Bonzo" Bonham drum solo is anyone's guess?
You can add ‘Mumble Rap’ and ‘Grime’ to the offensive to my ears. Absolute tosh.
