    Womens World Cup

It’s the pinnacle of one of the most popular sports in the world for women and girls, once every four years doesn’t seem too much of an interruption to all the other mainly rubbish on TV.

Personally I enjoy any football match where the two teams have got some skill and are going all out to win.
Because there are other sports that are much more popular than football for women but get no exposure on tv.
It's not every 4 years, it's every week, 5000 spectators in Wembley stadium looks terrible but put the cameras in a hockey stadium with 5000 and it's packed yet hockey gets tv time once every Olympics.

Always hear how it’s gaining in popularity every time there’s a major tournament.
And always see a huge stadium with more empty seats than people.
Trouble is, there aren’t as many women interested in watching football as there are men, and men who like football would rather watch the men playing.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

Have you been following the coverage of the FIH Pro League on BT Sport? 600 hours of coverage of mens and womens hockey per year apparently, although mostly between January and June so you may have missed most of it. You can still catch Belgium v Australia (women’s and men’s ) next Thursday though.

Fortunately it is a four year deal.

I think that the BBC are increasingly opting out of all live sports coverage, outbid by firstly Sky and then BT and others. I suspect the Women’s World Cup was relatively low cost for a high profile popular event. Apart from the FA Cups, the BBC don’t show any live football regularly, men’s or women’s, I think.

ITV even more so. Euro 2020 qualifiers I think?

Not tempted by a BT Sport subscription? Pay to watch is becoming normal for sport on TV/online now.
